Creating a post layout with editable fields

Hello dear Themeco team!

I am trying to figure out if is possible to create a standard layout for all posts via the layout builder and have some elements be dynamic (e.g. header, featured image) and others be editable when I create a new post. I’d love to have a fixed template for all posts so that the client can’t change anything other than input text or exchange images. Is there a way to do it?

Best,

Umberto

Hey @umbertofederico,

Thanks for reaching out!

Yes, this is doable with ACF and Loopers. You can try the following setup.

1.) You need ACF to create the editable fields and assign them to your POST custom post type
2.) Create a single layout builder and design your post pages

Hope that helps.

Hey Marc!

Thanks for the answer!

I had imagined something like that but that means that I cannot edit my content withing Cornerstone but only in the generic Wordpress post editor right?

Hey @umbertofederico,

Yes, if you setup that way, you need to edit the content in generic WordPress posts editor and styling the global template in your single layout builder.

Hope that helps.

All right. Thanks for clearing that up. Maybe it would be an idea to have an editable element for such a case - it would make things a lot more streamlined if I could create base layouts and assign them but still be able to edit parts.

Best,

Umberto

Hi @umbertofederico,

Thanks for your suggestion. We will keep this in mind and will check the possibilities and consider it in the future.
