Hi @piccadillybooks,
Thanks for reaching out.
Can you please elaborate on the issue you are having? Any screenshot marking the issue or video will help us to guide us to recognize the problem.
Thanks
imi 1 is php 7.1 cornerstone works
imi 2 is php at 7.4 tried to debug but get no output.
imi 3 is php 7.4 with cornerstone disabled. site works but format is gone.
Hi @piccadillybooks,
Can you try enabling WP_DEBUG by setting this in wp-config.php?
define( 'WP_DEBUG', true);
The next time you see that error page with the 500 code, it should provide more specific details about the problem. Thanks!
i did try that and will again but it did not create a log i could find when i did it earlier.
Hey @piccadillybooks,
If we couldn’t see a specific error, regretfully, we won’t be able to tell the exact cause of the issue.
Please contact your web host also as they might be able to solve the server error.
Thanks.
I did contact my host and after loading a brand new wp site upgrading it and put in the cornerstone app it crashed, they told me it is not compatible with php7.2. They then had me take a plugin and put it on this site as well as that checks comparability of the page for php and it said cornerstone is to large to check for compatibility so they told me it was cornerstone. If you are unable to help here I may seek a refund for the support package. I will try to do the other site that is crashing with cornerstone today to see if I get a debug. At this point I have 3 sites on this host 2 run cornerstone I cannot upgrade band one that does not have cornerstone but is running 7.4 with no issues as you can see on the screen shots. I have fully upgraded and updated my host server and I am open to anything that will fix this as changing themes is not easy especially from the x theme. I am 100% sure it is the theme that crashes it but not sure how to further debug. I will try the debug on the other page and post back in a few minutes.
this is the debug code in one site.
define(‘WP_DEBUG’, true);
define( ‘WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY’, true);
/* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */
I actually had it on for the coconutresearch site when I posted the screen shots earlier.
define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, true );
This is debug on, php7.1, cornerstone:active
This is 7.4 with debug on and cornerstone:activated
This is php7.4, debug:on, and cornerstone deactivated.
I also tried this on the other site I have running xtheme-cornerstone “coconutresearchcenter.com” and got the exact same results.
Here is my other page that is on the same server and it is running wp and 7.4 with no issues. As this page works it is very hard to convince them php7.4 is not working on the host.
one other note that may help, I have mailer built into one of the pages that is not using wp but does use the php7.4 that the host site uses. When I upgrade I am unable to access the site but can get to my mailer and it sees 7.4 running and works great on 7.4 it is fully independent of the wordpress so not sure it helps.
I have deleted cornerstone and re-uploaded it to insure it is original code.
Tried debugging via file and browser with no luck it looks to crash before debug starts.
I use x-child so I tried the mail x-theme.
Extracted and uploaded new copy of theme and cornerstone.
Added cornerstone to another new test page and activated it and it crashed the other site as well.
Found on forum where cornerstone did not upgrade for one user so did a waklthrough of manually updating the cornerstone in the x theme on host.
Upgraded woocommerece in the xtheme the same way. (found on the forum)
again open to anything that helps determine the cause. I am fairly certain it is cornerstone, bluehost, me and my team of web designers and server specialists are all at it has to be this code. PLEASE HELP.
One of my web designers suggested trying a different theme with cornerstone active and here is the result.
PHP7.4 cornerstone active, debug on, default wp theme.
If I am correct this rules out the x-theme as an issue and still points to cornerstone?
Hi @piccadillybooks,
I’m not sure WP_DEBUG is actually enabled, or something else is preventing the error messages from showing. Instead of “There has been a critical error on this website” we should get a technical error message.
First, I’d recommend updating to X 8.0.6 and Cornerstone 5.0.6. If you’re still having issues, please add WordPress admin and FTP credentials in a secure note and we can look more closely. Thanks!
I totally agree I do not think debug is working>. I believe I checked the versions last night but will check again this evening to be sure. I will send the login info in the am but where do I send it, not sure I want it on a public forum.
Hi @piccadillybooks,
There’s a button called “Secure note” you can use. It will only show the information inside to our staff.
Hi @piccadillybooks,
I have added the debug setup into wp-config.php for your site and. I would request you to try updating the PHP version and let us know the error(s) logged into the wp-content/debog.log file.
Thanks
here is a screen shot
feel free to switch this for these site at will, 7.1 works and any over that do not. it is under multiphp manager in the whm link i sent.
Here are screen shots of he directories and there is no debuglog files. there is an old log file I included but it is very old errors.
The log—

Thanks for the help BTW
I can do a new test page with a brand new wp install to try for testing but the x themes license has stopped me from doing that.
Took a look this am and pages were not up, I think I may have left them on the php7.4.
it is set back to 7.1 for now so pages load.
Hello @piccadillybooks,
We will have this investigated further by our developers. This could be just a server configuration issue because we are using PHP 7.4 in our local testing server.
Please bear with us.
