Cornerstone Update (Oct 2018) Website Not Working (3 Weeks)

Dear Apex,

My website has not been working for 3 weeks now since the Cornerstone Update back in Oct 2018.

The subject on this online forum was CLOSED by Apex (without the issue being resolved) and I have been unable to continue discussing this further.

To bring you up to date on the discussion so far, you can look at the thread of of our communications here:

1.) The fix Apex have sent me (due to the Hosting 404 Error) DID NOT WORK and the only difference now on applying this fix is that on using the Element Icon I am now directed to my own Home Page?

2.) I have created under WordPress> ALL PAGES> a TEST PAGE for Apex to use/play about with called - ***** A TEST PAGE FOR APEX TO USE – 20.10.2018

3.) Attached below are x2 screenshots from my IT person who on applying the Apex fix unsuccessfully is asking for advise from you to resolve. (Is his server set up correctly to correctly to apply the Cornerstone (Oct 2018) Update?

4.) My Wordpress, Cornerstone and X Theme are all using the most up to date versions.

5.) Please can you help me with this road block as I have lost 3 weeks website building due to this update whereas everything was working fine before.

Many, many thanks and I look forward to your response.

Hi @Good_Usernames_Gone

Thanks for reaching out.

A thread will automatically closed without replies within 10days. I just checked and the only problem I’m seeing is that the permalink is not properly configured. So I saved it and it works without 404, could you try it again?

Thanks!

THANK YOU SO MUCH RAD!

My site works fine now and I REALLY appreciate your support on this.

You are a TRUE WIZARD…

You’re most welcome!

Dear Rad,

I have sent you the below as you know the recent HISTORY of my recent Cornerstone update issue and I believe the below is linked to this.

SHORT VERSION - APEX STAFF ARE UNABLE TO ACCESS MY WEBSITE NOW DUE TO IT REDIRECTING NOW

Please find below my recent question sent to APEX and Thai’s answer…

PLEASE HELP ME!

Hey Guys,

I have just inserted the Classic Search Icon into he top of my home page.

I wish to use it in a way that my website users can search any off the 1000+ listing for medical imaging employers on my website.

On using it, it seems to find PAGE HEADING fine, but not the listing content of the actual employers contained on my website.

Is this a bug, am I not supposed to do this or do I have some sort of setting incorrect.

Please take a look for me (if you will) and advise me accordingly.

As an example, please use the Classic Search ELEMENT to look for: Absolute Ultrasound Service (Miami Day Hospital) Tel: 1300 388 000

This employer listing is found at Gold Coast, Queensland - http://dipa.com.au/brisbane/gold-coast/

Why it is not finding this listing I am unsure?

Kind Regards,

Hi There,

I couldn’t access your website, it’s redirecting loop now.

Could you please double check?

Please follow up the steps below:

Ensure everything is up to date according to our version compatibility list here. Please follow the best practices when updating your theme and plugins. Click here1 for more information.

Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third-party plugins, and see if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Remove custom CSS and Javascript from the options or Child Theme and test the case.

Switch to the parent theme to check if the issue persists.

Turn off all cache plugins.

Let us know how it goes!

AGAIN RAD, YOU KNOW THE RECENT HISTORY CIS AND I HOPE I HAVE NOT BROKEN PROTOCOL BY SENDING THIS TO YOU!

THE ANSWER I HAVE BEEN SENT IS CONFUSING ME AND I HAVE LOST SOOOOO MUCH TIME AFTER THE LAST CORNERSTONE UPDATE IT IS COSTING ME TIME AND MONEY

Thank you - Simon

Hey There,

Thanks for updating this thread. Upon checking your website I could see that you’ve created employer listing by the v2 text elements.

The default WordPress search cannot detect texts inside a shortcode or a v2 elements. You may need to use a 3rd party plugin that will enhance the search capability of WordPress. You may check out the plugins repository for these plugins.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/better+search/

Hope this helps.

Thank you Thai and I will take your advice and let you know the results…

Yet again you are a True Wizard and I trust your input and ongoing support!

You’re most welcome!

Hi Rad,

I’m just following up on your prior advice to find a 3rd party Plugin to search my website, as the WordPress search function does not do this correctly.

I have tried 2 Plugins unsuccessfully to date. The problem they are both having is that they are unable to read the Headline and Text Elements, due to my website using Cornerstone.

Can you or another staff member inform me of a third party Plugin that can SEARCH both the HEADLINE AND TEXT Elements using Cornerstone correctly?

Thank you again Rad.

Simon

Hi Simon,

I tried to do a search and it seems to return the results correctly

You can try google custom search for better search result

Thanks

Hi Paul and thank you for your reply.

The search you did on my website ONLY bought up the page which is what WordPress does anyway.

Below is an EXACT example of what WordPress and 2 other Plugins are UNABLE TO FIND. and I have around 1,100 employer listings that currently are ‘unable’ to be searched on.

EXAMPLE OF A LISTING:

Absolute Ultrasound Service (Miami Day Hospital) Tel: 1300 388 000

(Note: This employer listing is found at Gold Coast, Queensland - http://dipa.com.au/brisbane/gold-coast/)

The problem I am having is now a total of 3 search plugins are unable to read Cornerstone Headline and Text Element content which are the main ones used in Cornerstone???

Rather than keep downloading Search PlugIns randomly to see if I can find one to interact with and read Cornerstone, can you recommend me x1 that is Cornerstone friendly and will do the job?

Thank you again.

Simon

Hello Simon,

I have investigated this issue and I can confirmed that none of the text or headline text element is searchable which is a bug in this latest release. This is because the content of the element does not resides in the post description contents. It is directly stored in the post meta which will only gets displayed when the text or headline element is rendered in the front end.

I would recommend that you use classic custom headline and classic text element instead. Meanwhile, I’ve submitted this to our issue tracker so the developers will be made aware of it. Once they’ll have a fix, it will be updated and will be rolled out in the next release update cycle.

Thanks you for your understanding.

Thank you for your reply RueNel.

It would take me 80+ hours of work to change text to classic text + Header for 1,100 employer listings and will wait for the next update cycle to be released to fix this.

Any idea ‘approximately’ when this next release will happen?

Cheers,

Simon

Hi Simon,

Sorry, but we can not provide an exact date of release. But you can check our latest status report.

Themeco news and important announcements.

Thanks,

Thank you for that and hopefully we don’t have to wait that long for this to eventuate…

No problem.
