Cornerstone Update (Oct 2018) and Element Icon Not Working

Dear ThemeCo,

A couple of days ago I updated my Cornerstone and now the Element function DOES NOT WORK as per ususal and this is preventing me from building web pages.

On clicking the Element Icon I receive the below message.

ERROR 404 - Not Found!

The following error occurred:

The requested URL was not found on this server.

Please check the URL or contact the webmaster.

Everything else appears to work fine and I’ve tried the Forum Support Answers to this and I’m still struggling???

I also read the below at Themco…

NOTICE

Remember to clear all caches when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Sorry but I do not know how to Clear All Caches (which might resolve my non working Element issue)

The Element issue occurred on my updating Cornerstone and today I have also updated X Theme X to use both most current versions.

Please can you offer me your thoughts on how to fix this and many thanks…

Simon

Hi Simon,

Would you mind trying to reset your permalinks in Settings > Permalinks. Try setting it to Post Name then check the options in Cornerstone again.

Let us know how it goes.

Hey Jade.

On following your advice it did not work.

On setting it to Post Name I now get the SAME 404 message on trying to OPEN the web page.

What do you suggest I try now?

Regards,

Simon

Hello Simon,

Thanks for updating the thread.

It seems that your .htaccess file is not writable as upon changing the permalinks I am getting If your .htaccess file was writable, we could do this automatically, but it isn’t so these are the mod_rewrite rules you should have in your .htaccess file. Click in the field and press CTRL + a to select all. message. I suggest you to change the file permission of .htaccess file. For more information on changing the file permission, please take a look at following article.

Thanks.

Hey Jade,

I’ve taken a look at what you have sent me, but on clicking the link I am no more the wiser that when I started?

Please can you take another look for me “Under The Hood” as I am now officially s,100% tuck and I’m unable to proceed with my with use Corner Stone /.

Thank you very much and I’m looking forward to your response…

Hi There @Good_Usernames_Gone

Upon checking your issue further, I can confirm that your issue is not related to X theme or Cornerstone but your hosting related.

Try creating your .htaccess file manually and see if that helps (https://codex.wordpress.org/htaccess). If not, you will need to contact your hosting provider to resolve this issue further.

For example if you create a WordPress post or page without using Cornerstone, that page also gets a 404 error, which means your error is related to hosting settings or configurations.

Thanks!

Thank you mldarshana and I will contact my Host Provider for their comments. This issue is currently unresolved and I will contact you again in a couple of days with feedback.

Kind Regards,

Simon

Sure, please let us know  And you’re most welcome!
