Cornerstone translation function bugs

hello,

i am facing three problems with language version (wmpl):

1. builder:

i can copy content from page or post, but when using this function on headerbuilder, footerbuilder or layoutbuilder i get an error message. “failed to create…”

2. layout

on translated posts the layout is not applied as on the original language version.

3. edit post

when i am in the translated post e.g.

Case Study EN - Raiffeisen

and then choose from the top admin menue cornerstone -> edit page
i am editing the original version. so i have to choose the flag in the right corner, which leads to mistakes,
as i think i am editing the english version.

how to fix this?

Hello @oblaum,

Thanks for writing to us.

It seems that you have not enabled these post types like Header, Footer and Layout, etc as translatable. To enable the translation you need to go to WPML—>Settings—>Post Types—>Set as Translatable. Please have a look at the given screenshot in the secure note. I also noticed that you are using the cache plugin, I would suggest you please purge all the cache and then temporarily deactivate the cache plugin.

i have also deactived the caching plugin.

2. layout

on translated posts the layout is not applied as on the original language version.

still i have this problem that the layout is in the translated page not applied. it behaves as no category is selected, which it is. (in this category case study)

layout builder e.g. for this example page:

on the original version of this layer builder i get now the error:

how to fix this issue?

Hi Oli,

I have checked your WPML settings and found that the Use Directory for the default language option is enabled and for that the URL is conflicting with the URL set in the Settings > General.

I went ahead and disable the option and now the Page Builder is working fine.

thanks this worked for me. great.
as i need to turn on the directory for default language, i have found at that the option html file and then the default language /de/ worked out also.

now there is only topic #3 not solved:

Hi Oli,

The Cornerstone > Edit Page option will open the specific page for the language is chosen. But the problem you are trying to point out is that the Flag for the language is not highlighted properly and shows the default language flag active. And that makes the confusion and leads you to click the flag once again. I have checked the problem and will report this to our issue tracker for further investigation by our development team.

thanks for get this on the issue tracker, but an important note:

if i am on the translated version (in my case english) e.g.

Case Study EN - Raiffeisen

then choose cornerstone -> edit page from the menu, it is just not the flag which is not right, it is showing the wrong languag version, so i am editing the original version (in my case german), if i do not click on the flag.

so it’s a false flag highlight, its the wrong language version and this leads to problems as a user might edit the wrong language version if he does not check the flag…

hello,

two additional information (bugs):
. on the live server where i used now the same settings i had to choose again the condition in the layout builder and choose the category again (even if the condition where shown there correctly) only then the layout was shown in the translated page.

. i still have the problem with the preview not showing up with the error message – problem still is there even without using the directory for default language option on (which i need).

maybe for the bug tracker?
