Cornerstone not working with X for me

Hi,

Super procrastinator here, Cornerstone has not been working for me on X-theme for a very long time. I’ve been able to update via classic editor, but I have a bunch more to update and would love to have Cornerstone available.

I’ve cleared the cache, turned on and off the plugins, I don’t believe I have any custom JavaScript, I’ve added the lines "define( ‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘512M’ );
define( ‘WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘512M’ ); to wp.config.php "

Is there anything you can do to help??

Thanks,
Melanie

Hello Melanie,

Thanks for sharing the login details. I checked your website settings, and it appears that the page was built using the older X Shortcodes (Cornerstone). Unfortunately, there aren’t suitable options to update this directly. I recommend rebuilding the page using the latest version of Cornerstone elements for better compatibility and functionality.

Thanks for understanding

So I’ll need to rebuild the whole site. UGH. I thought I remembered there was a “bridge” available, but maybe after so long and many X updates later, it’s not a viable option.

Would you recommend creating a staging site to rebuild? If so, can I copy the content into the staging site and go from there? It’s a small club, but they’d rather not have their site down and I’d rather do without that pressure.

Love to hear your opinion on what might be my best plan of attack.

THANKS

Hello @camomus,

It would be best to clone the website to a staging server and rebuild the page there. On the staging server, you can use a fresh WordPress installation and rebuild pages one by one using Cornerstone elements. A fresh installation will use less server space and database resources.

Thanks

What is the best way to clone the website? Transfer files?

Hello @camomus,

Clone your site to staging site. Here is a guide that you can follow:

Once you have completely rebuild the posts and pages with the new Cornerstone elements, you can simply push the updates and changes to live site with ease.

Best Regards.
