Cornerstone not working at all on my site

Hi there.
Cornerstone is not working on my site. When I create a new page, click on “Edit with Cornerstone” the screen kind of blinks and it takes me back to a blank page. Cornerstone doesn’t even open. When I try to edit a page that already exists Cornerstone does open but doesn’t work properly.

I’ve got the latest Wordpress and X theme version. I’ve renamed htaccess file and clicked “save changes” on permalinks, but it doesn’t work. I haven’t installed any plugins or done almost anything on the website, not even added customized css or anything.

I need to build the website but I can’t do anything.

Thanks for writing in!

The cornerstone is working fine and I can able to edit the pages. Still I can see you don’t set the parma link properly as I can’t access to the setting page.

Hi Basanta.
Well, it’s not working for me. On the other hand, I have no problem with the permalinks settings.
In this video you can see what happens when I try to edit a page with Cornerstone and also how I have no problem with the permalink settings.

Would you mind to try a different browser. It might be related to your browser only due, for example, addons installed on it.

I’ve tried using Chrome and I get the exact same problem. Every time I try to create a new page and edit it with Cornerstone, the page blinks and nothing happens :confused:

I tried creating a new page and edit it with Cornerstone but it just keeps on loading for a long time. Please give us FTP access in a Secure Note so we could check your config.

Hi There,

I have tried re-installing Cornerstone but I see cornerstone hangs sometimes.

Could you please try increasing your PHP max script execution time to 120 or a higher value and test your issue again.

By the way, I have tried the same on other website of mine (drlivinghome.com) and it doesn’t work either. That website is already built and I didn’t use Cornerstone so I don’t care, but I think it’s worth noting that the problem seems to be quite common.

Hello There,

I am another staff checking in. I carefully watch your video and noticed that when you clicked Add New page, you immediately click the Cornerstone editor tab. Please be advised that you are doing it incorrectly. You haven’t created the page yet and there is no permalink of the page. This is why it is not the proper way to do it. The permalink is based on the title of the page/post. Cornerstone needs to establish some data into the page. What your doing does not allow Cornerstone to communicate with the page/post meta data.

The correct way to do should be in this steps:

  • Click Add New (page/post)
  • Add a title
  • Click Save Draft or
  • Click the publish

And then you are now ready to click the Cornerstone tab and the “Edit With Cornerstone” button.

By the way, please check the two test pages. I do not have any issues editing this pages on my browser. I am using Chrome.

It seems like your stylesheet is not loading.

Please try testing for plugin conflict, if it does not work, please try removing the theme via FTP from wp-content/themes/ and installing again.

If that does not work please open a new thread explain your issue in detail and provide the Wordpress and FTP credentials in a second reply in a private note.

i have downloaded and activated cornerstone in wordpress. but there is no ‘edit with cornerstone’ option…please help!!!

Hey AdamMoore,

Thanks for updating this thread. You must have installed the incorrect Cornerstone plugin. Please be advised that Cornerstone should be automatically installed when you install and activate X theme. To ensure that you are using the correct one, please do this;

  • Log in to your WP dashboard
  • Go to Plugins section
  • Deactivate Cornerstone
  • Delete Cornerstone. You should see a confirmation that it has been deleted.
  • Go to X > Overview so that Cornerstone will be installed automatically.
  • Go back to the plugins section and activate Cornerstone plugin.

If ever automatic installation fails, this usually happens due to permission issues, you can install Cornerstone manually. Please download the zip file and upload it in the plugins section, Plugins > Add New > Upload.

Cornerstone download will be in your site:
http://www.example.com/wp-content/themes/x/framework/plugins/cornerstone.zip
