Cornerstone not working and images not displayed

Hi there

I translated a plage with WPML. Now i cannot access the page with cornerstone and furthermore some pictures towards the bottom of the page are not displayed

Hello @bakrona,

Thanks for writing in! Is the original page created with Cornerstone? If it does, please follow this guide in translating the Cornerstone built pages with WPML documentation:

Best Regards.

Hi

Yes it was created and it was translated with WPML. I translated also other pages like that and it worked so here there is a problem. Why cant i edit the page with cornerstone and why are the images not displayed?

Hi @bakrona,

After going through your content, it seems that the existing Cornerstone content has been edited in the Block editor and that may be the cause of the issue.
Regretfully, the content added through the Cornerstone editor is not editable in the Block or Gutenberg editor, and vice-versa. That’s why the edited content is not showing in the Cornerstone.
If you don’t have any backup, I would suggest you create it from scratch, following the instruction given in the link shared by my colleague.

Thanks

I did not edit anything in any editor besides cornerstone.

How do I proceed from here? I cannot just create a new page for the translation as it is the translated version of the original so it is linked through WPML. Since I cannot access the translation via cornerstone I cannot even delete everything and re-create the translation using templates.

Please advise how to proceed.

Hi @bakrona,

Unfortunately, you have to create that page from scratch. I would suggest you go through the following articles on this.

  1. https://theme.co/docs/wpml#translation
  2. https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/xtheme/

Hope it will help.
Thanks

What is the reason for this situation?

I did everything according to Cornerstone and WPML.

I want to avoid to have to create this again. It was a lot of work and I do not understand why I have to create the original again. WPML is supposed to work with X theme

Hi Bak,

As my colleague said, there might be some instances that the page was edited outside the cornerstone that’s the reason why it causes an issue to your website. Please re-create your page from scratch and in the future avoid editing the page outside the cornerstone.

Hope that helps.

Thank you.

Yes I understood that there might be some cases. but this is not the case here and I told your colleague before. I find it a bit strange that you asking me to avoid editing outside cornerstone.

I was writing for a specific problem with X and WPML which is now causing me a lot of work if i have to start from scratch. I do not see how this is connected to editing outside of Cornerstone. I used cornerstone to create the original. I used the WPML function to do the translations. I really want to avoid creating the original page again. So if at least i could find a way to delete the translation and recreate it, that would already be helpful. But as I said, I cant even do that so I am stuck with this situation

Hey @bakrona,

It appears to us that you did not use the builder’s translation flags as said by Ruenel.

You used WPML’s Translation Editor instead. Cornerstone’s Translation Flags is separate from WPML’s Translation Editor which is the old way of translation way back when only Classic Elements are available. WPML’s Translation Editor is still compatible with Classic Elements and that is, as it appears to us, what you’ve used.

If you really did translate using the Translation Flags, you most probably have reverted using WPML’s Translation Editor and that wiped out the builder’s data. WPML edited the content outside of Cornerstone. That is why the only solution here is to rebuild the page. Otherwise, you need to continue using WPML’s Translation Editor.

If you wish to use Cornerstone for the translated page, save your German page first as a template using the Template Manager. Then, load the template in the Italian page. Remember that I’m referring to using the Translation Flags for this case.

Hope that helps.
