Cornerstone not loading after update

Hi,

I have just updated cornerstone but now it isn’t loading when I click to edit a page.

I have updated to the latest version of Cornerstone but haven’t updated X yet, which is still on v4.6.4. Can you please help me to get cornerstone working and I will then tackle the X update.

After the update I cleared all caches, inc. CDN.

I have a few sites on the old version of X, you should only need to help me with the first one and then I should be able to get the others sorted.

I will add my server login on the next private message (if I can see how to do that  )

Regards,

Mark

Hi There,

Please turn off all cache and optmization plugins and update X to the latest version.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks!

Hi,

I turned off all the caches and optimization plugins and did the X update, which all went smoothly. I have turned back on my optimizations and have checked to see if I can edit a page in Cornerstone, but I am sorry to say but it still hangs.

Kind regards,

Mark

Hi,

I have realised that there is a load of changes I need to make to the pages before I update X. I am running some custom cornerstone extensions that appear not to work in the new version of X. So I have currently rolled back to the old version of X so that I can change my design.

I still have the latest version of cornerstone installed and am not able to edit pages. Can you make that work with the old version of X or do I also need to go back to the old version to make the changes required?

Regards,

Mark

Hi There,

We do not provide support for 3rd party Cornerstone extensions as they developed separately by developers who are not affiliated with X. However you can contact the plugin authors directly to inform those issues and to make it X compatible.

Thanks!

I cannot contact the developer because the company has closed. I have updated cornerstone to the latest and it now doesn’t work, so I can’t even edit the pages to remove the extensions and update X.

Can you please help me to get cornerstone working, either this version or the previous one that worked on the earlier version of X.

I am stuck at the moment, not able to edit pages to change my design and remove the extensions that are no longer working.

Hi there,

The main issue here is the cornerstone version isn’t compatible with your old X theme. There is no way you could make it work, unless you’re going to update your X to 5.1.1 or downgrade your cornerstone.

Should I downgrade it? You may also do that by deleting cornerstone and let X install the correct version applicable for 4.6.4.

Thanks!

Thanks, I have gone back to the old version and it is now working again. When I get time I will change the design of my site and remove the extensions.

Thanks for letting us know!

I have updated one of my other sites and the update appears to have worked fine with the website still looking the same. There is some sort of problem when I try to edit with cornerstone, I am met with;

“A conflict on the front end of your site has prevented the preview from loading.”

I will post the sites login info on a secure note.

Regards,

Mark

I just ran a PHP 7 compatibility test on the site above and got the results posted in the secure message. Can this be sorted out because I would really like to get to PHP 7?

Hi there,

You should ignore those last error that you posted, they are only reported by the tools you’re using and not actually related to errors. Please check this https://theme.co/apex/forums/topic/cornerstone-update-to-be-compatible-with-php-7-2/

I just checked it and the cornerstone is now working, though, maybe what you’re referring is the specific issue from a specific page? Would you mind providing the URL of that page?

Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks, I will do the PHP 7 update.

I am getting the “A conflict on the front end of your site has prevented the preview from loading.” on each page I try to open with Cornerstone.

Mark

Hi there,

Are you referring to the second site or the first one? Both works okay and the first one just has the older version. Please check the video recording. It could be just your browser cache.

Thanks!

Thanks for taking a look. The first site I need to do a bit more work on before updating, I was talking about the 2nd site.

I have just tried logging in via Safari and get the same error on it, I thought I’d try Chrome and that loaded just fine. So the problem appears to only be with Safari. Have tried emptying browser cache but it hasn’t made any difference, any clues would be cool as I use it as my main browser.

Hi there,

The problem is originated from a 3rd party plugin called Far Future Expiration Plugin. As soon as I deactivated that plugin Safari starts to work with no problem.

Kindly avoid using that plugin as it has a conflict of some kind with our builder.

Thank you.

Thanks all sorted on that site now

Hi,

I have updated the first site now, so it is now running latest versions of X and Cornerstone and the extensions that were causing the problem have been removed. I am also now running that site on PHP 7.

I am still having a problem with Cornerstone though, I just get the spinning Icon and the page doesn’t load. I will place login details in a secure note.

Mark

Hi there,

Too much cache, I deactivated the two cache plugins (auto optimize and comet cache plug) and it’s now working. Too much is always overkill and it’s like caching the already cached resources.

Thanks!

Hi,

Auto optimise isn’t a cache plugin and it just condenses CSS and HTML. I turned that back on and cornerstone still loads. So it appears that comet cache pro is the problem I am on to their support about it.

Thanks for taking a look.
