Cornerstone has not been updated in over two years

Hey,

Why do I get this message in my plugins section for cornerstone?? “Cornerstone has not been updated in over two years which indicates that it is no longer supported by the developer. There could be security issues that will not be fixed! Please reach out to the developers to ensure this is still supported or look for alternatives and uninstall this plugin.”

Thanks
Jamie

Hi Jamie,

Thank you for writing in, is that the site you’re working on below? I checked that site and its Cornerstone is actually up to date (4.2.3), it’s your X theme that is needed to be updated to 7.2.3 to avoid incompatibility issue with the latest Cornerstone.

Updating Your Themes and Plugins

Remember to clear all your caching features (plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache) after updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

The Cornerstone that you’re having the message might be a different one that is not from us.

The one form us looks like this

Cheers!

Please see the attached screenshot.

I’ve updated the theme as advised, but still receive the same error.

Hello Jamie,

Since this is a major update for your site, it would be best to setup a staging site and do the update from there so that the live site will not be affected in case there will be any issues with the update and you will be able to do some testing.

Here are some search results on how to setup a staging site:

In case you are not certain how to proceed, you might want to check with your web host and ask them if they can help you with the staging site.

Once you have everything setup, you can initially do the updates there.

Based on the screenshot you send, since you are using a really old version of Cornerstone, you might need to manually update it through FTP.

Please check this link on how to do a manual update for Cornerstone:

Let us know how it goes.

I’m a little confused - I just did the update within wordpress?

Is this not a sufficient update? It’s currently running at 7.2.3.

Cornerstone is at 4.2.3

These seem to be correct right? So why would I need to do anything via FTP?

And why is there still an error message in Wordpress for cornerstone?

Thanks for your assistance,
Jamie

Hello Jamie,

If you already have X 7.2.3 and Cornerstone 4.2.3, the FTP access is no longer necessary. The error should also be gone by now. Unless, you have another copy of the Cornerstone plugin installed in your plugins section.

If nothing is helping, provide us access to your site so that we can check your settings. Please create a secure note with the following info:

Best Regards.

Yes, unfortunaetely I am still getting the error message. I will leave a secure note with my details. Thanks for checking up

Hi @jamie2364,

I checked and it’s probably a cache from your end, I recommend cleaning your browser caches and test it again. This is what I’m currently seeing.

Thanks!
