Content Modal - Option from an existing button rather than your modal toggle

Hi,

I am struggling to format an existing button to open a modal. My query: Is it possible to achieve a modal opening from an existing button, as opposed to your pre-set modal / toggle?

I’ve read your modal document and even when I add the modal element I cannot locate the children control group, or indeed the setup control group that matches said modal document screen grab. I do see Toggle Design Setup which isn’t as detailed… Thus I can’t replicate the solution that is detailed in: Content Area Model > 4.3 Contact Form 7 button popup?

Looked at: Button that opens a modal on Pro Version 4.3. Likewise Covertplug doesn’t do what I need and your own tutorial linked there doesn’t answer my question.

Also followed this - which hasn’t worked as I don’t want to have to display your toggle and my button - Toggling a Content Area Modal from another button

Additionally I will have multiple differing modals/toggles on the same page so not sure the above, if it can work, would actually be able to do so.

Any input or solution?

Many thanks

Hello @sewotherspoon,

Thanks for writing in! Regretfully you cannot add a modal to an existing button element. You will have to insert a modal element into the page first. You can style the toggle button or hide it and then use your existing button element to trigger the click event to display the modal. Just make sure that you have added a toggle has in your modal element settings, (Modal > Customize).

If you don’t see some of modal element style options, you need to turn on the Advanced Mode by going to the Settings > Preferences > Advanced Mode

Best Regards.
