Closing modals takes many clicks

Hello,

I thought It might be me - but it turns out that others also find that modals in the editor won’t close with one click. I thought it was Safari but it happens in Chrome too. This has gone on for years, please can you fix this, it’s such a waste of time and embarrassing when you show Cornerstone to a client.

Others see this too - not just me.

Thanks, Bill.

I’m not sure I have ever experienced the issue you are referring to. Do you mean the X button here on a popup like this? If so, I think there could be an issue where the window thinks you are dragging the window instead of closing the window. I can issue a fix for this pretty quickly. Let me know if I not on the right track. Thanks for sending this my way.

Hi Charlie,

Yes - it’s that window and others - I have to click loads of times to make it close. I asked in the Facebook group and quite a few others have the same symptom.

Thanks, Bill.

I’ll release a fix in the next release. Let me know if you have issues after this. Have a great day.

Charlie - you get a gold star for fixing that.

I think there are two other places affected by this behaviour.

  1. In the text editor. When I try to switch from HTML to Rich Text, I have to click multiple times

  2. In the Outline panel of the page editor. Fairly often when I click on an element, it jumps to a new position in the hierarchy on a random basis. It can be undone but it can also happen and not be noticed.

Both of these happen frequently for me, and seem related to processing of clicks.

Best wishes, Bill

I’ll add that to my wall of other gold stars.

  1. If the close button fixed worked, I can add that same fix to the ‘tab’ switching some of these windows do. I’ll make sure it’s in the next update.
  2. I’m not entirely sure I know what you mean here. Do you not want the preview to scroll the element into view when clicked on the outline?

Have a great weekend.

On point 2, what I mean is this:

  • I click on the magnifying glass for an element, or maybe the hide/show eye icon
  • The element interprets this as a drag
  • The element jumps up or down 4 or 5 places in the hierarchy, taking any children with it
  • my outline hierarchy is then scrambled and I have to Undo quickly to avoid damage

It seems like the same symptom, the outline panel thinks I dragged, when in fact I clicked.

Oh and also, will CSAI become CSSI to conform with Trumpian renaming?
