Chrome Browser issue with builder window layout

Recently I’ve been experiencing some strange misbehavior with the Builder Toolbars in the Chrome browser.

For example, when I want to click on " View in Frontend" in the toolbar, the reorder mode of the toolbox is immediately activated! This also happens when I just click in the toolbox and then move the mouse. I can’t click on " View in frontend" at the moment because the rearrange mode is activated immediately. I have also tried this on several WordPress installations. (Version 5.1.4)

The error also happens with the other windows like Element Inspector.

However, this error only happens in the Chrome browser! In Firefox everything seems to work normally.

Does anyone else have a problem like this? Or any clue what this could be?

Hey @Regnalf,

Thanks for writing in! Please check your Chrome browser. There could be a browser extension that causes the issue. Can you please check and make sure that there are no active extensions that is causing it?

Best Regards.

It’s definitely the browser version I currently have for my Mac. The error does not occur on Windows Chrome, nor does it occur in the latest Chrome Canary version for MAC. Since I don’t have any extensions enabled or disabled I assume it was a Chrome update.

I wish my feature request was already implemented and I could disable the re-arranging of windows. Because currently it is almost impossible to work with the builder!

Can you give me another hint what triggers the window re-arranging? JavaScript? So I can send it to Chrome support.

For all who have the same error, I would recommend to stay with Chrome Canary temporarily.

Hello @Regnalf,

I cannot replicate the issue on my end. Please check out this video screencast:

Be advised that when you click and drag your mouse, it activates the feature that you can reposition the panels in the builder. Clicking on the icons without dragging will launch the intended features or purpose of the icons within the buider.

Best Regards.

Todays update for chrome didn’t solve this issue.

And it’s triggered right away if i click where it should not start the repositioning. see secure note.

The issue doesn’t exist in chrome canary, so i hope it will be fixed.

Hi @Regnalf,

Glad that you are able to find the solution, till the fix comes please use the Chrome Canary.

Thanks
