Child page archives/loops

As we can now pull through posts/custom post types - can you do the same with child pages?
Whilst you could do anything that has children as custom post types, just wondered if it would be possible to treat child pages similarly to posts.

Interesting idea here! We might be able to do something like a new Looper Provider type. Instead of “Query Builder” you could choose “Child Pages” or something like that. I believe this might even work recursively, although that could get a bit expensive in terms of number of queries running.

I’ll make a note to revisit this. Regretfully it’s a bit involved so it might not be something we can work out for this update, but I do think it would be a great way to expand the looper functionality

Yes, that would be awesome!

This would work especially well when you have a sidebar on an info or service page and you can have it set to have all the other child pages of that specific page’s parent. I’ve been working on a website using Elementor and been trying to make it work like that but for the life of me, I can’t get it to work. It would be amazing to have this possibility without having to mess with the theme editor function.

I got to say though after working with Elementor on a couple of projects and then coming back to Pro 4 - Beta. You guys are miles ahead of them in terms of UI and functionality, that’s my opinion anyway.

@Maratopia_Digital thanks for the feedback here and the kind words. This one is on our overflow list of more providers to potentially make, but I’ll add your +1. Glad to hear you are liking where things are with the beta. At this point we’re just working through bugs/polish and writing documentation. Trying to move towards the official release… Looking forward to Pro 4 being out of beta!

@RubberDuckers and @Maratopia_Digital,

In Pro 4.1 we’ve added a “Current Page Children” looper. It doesn’t have many in depth options at the moment but at least you’ll be able to get the child pages and output them in a sidebar like you’re describing. We’re experimenting with a way to walk hierarchical trees in loopers with a single query but I’m not sure if that will be ready yet for the official release.
