Can't download templates - Beta 5

Repro:

  1. Save a layout as a template
  2. Go to the Template Manager
  3. Check the box for the saved layout
  4. Click Download Template, then Download

Observed:
The green progress bar gets alllllllllmost to the end, but never completes. And the file never downloads.

Saw this in both Safari and Chrome. In console, here’s the error I see:

Thanks! Will take a look.

@devinelston, I’m sorry, still didn’t get to this one for beta7… Wanted to let you know since you were waiting on it specifically. Will prioritize early next week.

Hello @alexander I just installed the Beta8 version and on my end I still am not able to have the templates to work. Same thing is happening, it prompts that a template is installed, but it doesn’t show up anywhere. Am I the only one with this problem and so am I doing something wrong, or can someone confirm that they have the same problem? Thanks and cheers!

I just tried it, and it worked for me (so thanks @alexander!)

@SchoonhovenOntwerpStudio, forgive me if you’ve gotten this far. But I figured I might as well explain from the beginning.

Once you’ve imported a template, switch to the page or layout where you want to insert it. Then, select the Outline tab at the top and click Load Template.

From there, you’ll get a dropdown with all your templates listed. Just select the one you want to use, and either click the Insert button to the right of the dropdown to put it at the bottom of the page. Or click the + Insert Template in between any of the other sections to put it somewhere else in an existing layout.

Importing a template doesn’t automatically create pages for that template, it’s just like a preset that you can insert onto whatever page you’d like.

Hi @SchoonhovenOntwerpStudio, I’ve tested one more and I believe the original issue here is resolved, but that doesn’t mean you might be encountering something else. Let us know if Devin’s comment below helps.

It’s quite possible that the issue only happens with certain templates. In that case, feel free to send me a link to a Dropbox/OneDrive/[your upload service of choice] file and I can test your template directly.

@devinelston, thanks for the great write up here!

Thanks @devinelston I just tried several times your explanation (also in different browsers) but for some reason nothing is showing up on my side.
@alexander, I made a screen recording from the things I tried, I will send a link of this so you can see what happened.

Thank you @SchoonhovenOntwerpStudio, this is super helpful. Looks like something specific to Design Cloud.

You’re welcome, I’m happy to be of some sort of help

Just a heads up that this hasn’t been fixed but is still on the radar.

Fixed for next patch.
