Cannot view headers when editing

I have a no header/no footer/no container page as the homepage for https://fieldgateflowers.co.uk. However, I cannot view the headers to edit.

I found this thread - Can't Access My Header Now which is the same issue which suggests setting a global header and making it exempt.

Firstly, I have 5 different headers although one generic one is set globally. Second, how can I make the homepage exempt?

Hi @Lorenmn,

Thanks for reaching out.
I found that you are still using the older version of the theme i.e 4.1.5, I would suggest you update it to the latest 4.2.2 and check if that issue exists or not. If the issue still persists, please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

And to exempt the homepage from assigning the header and footer you need to use the condition with page specific not home page, please find the screenshot describing the settings.

Thanks

I’m looking to update the theme but it’s not showing the update to action?

Hi @Lorenmn,

Unfortunately, the wp-admin URL is showing the 503 error, can you please check with your hosting service provider and let us know when it ready to check.

If the update notice is not showing, I would request you to deactivate and delete the existing Pro and then re-install the updated version by downloading from your Themeco account dashboard.

Hope it helps.
Thanks

That’s strange. It all seems fine. Maybe just a temporary glitch. Good now.

Hi @Lorenmn,

Unfortunately, the issue remains after logged in and not able to proceed further to check in dashboard. It seems that there is some IP restriction implemented in your site, and we are not able to access your website to examine. As we are from different parts of the World and most of us have a dynamic IP so we can’t provide a specific IP address for whitelisting too.

Alternatively, I would like to request you to remove the IP(s) restrictions or you can copy your live site to a staging server without IP restrictions, so we could troubleshoot freely without breaking your site.

Thanks

I wasn’t aware there were any IP restrictions? It goes through Cloudflare - would that be it?

I have created a Staging copy though here - https://staging3.fieldgateflowers.co.uk

Logins should be the same.

Hi @Lorenmn,

The staging area has also IP restrictions. I suggest that you disable the Wordfence plugin in the meantime.

Thank you.

I think I understand the problem. You didn’t enter the correct username. This was my fault - apologies. It autocorrected and I didn’t realise.

I’ve amended the username in the previous secure not. This should now work on the main production site.

Hi @Lorenmn,

Thanks for updating your credentials!

The reason why you can’t edit the header because on the preview you are seeing the homepage which doesn’t have a header and a footer. To access the menus, you need to change the preview to the other pages. Let say for an example on your Main Header, click the icon above the save button to see the preview and set it to other pages.

On the other hand, to exempt the homepage to display the Main Header, just add the frontpage is not being viewed condition using the and clause.

Hope that helps.

Thank you.

I know why. That was my first question!

I’ve been into all 5 headers and set the front page as ‘is not being viewed’.

Now what?

Hi @Lorenmn,

Please follow the steps I posted above, you need to change the preview page in your header builder to edit the menus.

Hope that helps.

Thank you.

Oh my goodness! How did I miss that!
As you expected, it works perfectly!

Thank you so much! Amazing support as always.
