Can you give me advice by building a logical portfolio item page in PRO?

Hello!

At the moment I’m building my portfolio website in PRO. I’m very happy but at one point I get stuck. I tried a lot of options but maybe you know the best way for this. I know how I want my portfolio item to look like. This are two of the many options I tried before I got stuck:

1. Creating a layout (single) for my portfolio items, then I use Assignment and then I make a portfolio item (+ ACF fields for specific items)

*problem 1: I can’t import ACF images of the Portfolio item in the layout on the places I need them to be with the ACF shortcodes.
*problem 2: I get this message when I want to edit the portfolio item in de builder (after changing de settings) - “Hey No suitable preview eare found. This could happen when a third party plugin is overrinding the content area or ‘The Content’ is not being output by the current layout” - I found out that this message came from the fact that I selected portfolio items in the assignments of layout.

So, I thought this would not be the best option for creating my portfolio. I tried the next one:

2. Making normal pages of my projects so I can get them the way I want them to be. But when I named 1 page ‘Portfolio’ (kind of archive type of page) then I wanted my project page to be synced to this Portfolio page (headpage). So I get the URL like: /portfolio/projectname/

*problem 1: I get a this message when I want to edit the projects (pages) & when I name the Portfolio page ‘Projecten’ and do the same trick, it works. But when I call the headpage ‘Portfolio’ and want to edit the Project page I get the message: “The page you are looking for is no longer here, or never existed in the first place (bummer). You can try searching for what you are looking for using the form below. If that still doesn’t provide the results you are looking for, you can always start over from the home page.”

So my question is, can you advice me. What is the best solution for this so I can make the portfolio item page I need. In de secure note you will find the portfolio item page I made in pages.

Thanks for explaining the issue in detail, but it will be very difficult to recognize the issue without investigating it through the admin dashboard. Can you please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Hi Lisa,

I just check your website and I don’t see any portfolio items, in order for us to proceed with your layout. You need to create the portfolio items first and create your ACF items then assign them to your portfolio pages. Please let us know if you are done with all the steps and also in the meantime, please check these tutorials.

Hi Marc!

Thank you for responding. So sorry! I cleaned the layout/portfolio part because it was starting to get so messy.

I’ll start over right away with the portfolio item / layout option. Because it would be nicer if this option will work. And when I’m stuck again, I’ll let you know.

Okay, I’m officially in love with Theme PRO. What an AMAZING theme this is. It is working! In the end I turned out to have missed 1 step to get the images visible with ACF. And now it all works perfectly.

I have worked with many WP themes and last year I completely fell for Theme PRO. And every time I thought “I hope this is possible too then it will be perfect”, you blew me away with the new updates.
