Can not edit pages with Cornerstone after X update

I hope you are well.

I updated the really outdated X theme and Cornerstone plugin for my client’s site https://bit.ly/3TLK7N3

I can not edit the homepage now though.

I click “Edit page” and then “Edit with Cornerstone” and I see an error message:

=============
Not Found
The requested URL was not found on this server.

Any help would be appreciated.

I will send you login credentials within a few minutes via a secure message.

Thanks in advance.

Stavros

PS. The homepage used to look like the first attachment and it is broken a bit because it looks like the second attachment.

Hello @speed_optimization,

Thanks for writing to us.

It seems that the URLs are not fully replaced while moving the site from HTTP to HTTPS and that causes the Mixed Content issue [ HTTP and HTTPS ] blocking to load of the styles files.

I would suggest you replace the URL properly and check this again, there are many URL replacement Plugins available in WordPress which help you to replace the URL.
This article will be helpful in this:https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-update-urls-when-moving-your-wordpress-site/

Also, remember that the exact URL should be mentioned in Setting > General, WordPress Address and Site URL, including the protocol i.e HTTP/HTTPS.

I also noticed that there is a JS console error, it might be due to a custom JS code or plugin conflict issue. I would suggest you troubleshoot a few of the common issues before we investigate your settings.

If none of those work, It would be best if you could copy your live website to your staging area. and send your details in a secure note so that we can investigate your setting without breaking your live site. Please provide the following details

  • WordPress Login URL
  • Admin-level username and password

You can find the Secure Note button at the bottom of your posts

Hope this helps.
Thanks

Dear Prakash,

Thank you for the prompt response.

Please check my comments below.

It seems that the URLs are not fully replaced while moving the site from HTTP to HTTPS and that causes the Mixed Content issue [ HTTP and HTTPS ] blocking to load of the styles files.

I have updated the siteurl and home via phpMyAdmin and I do not see any references of http:// now but a few layout still happening so something still seems to be broken after the X and Cornerstone update.

I would suggest you replace the URL properly and check this again, there are many URL replacement Plugins available in WordPress which help you to replace the URL.

OK, I have done this. I also did a manual search/replace in the database and there are no mixed-content issues now.

Also, remember that the exact URL should be mentioned in Setting > General, WordPress Address and Site URL, including the protocol i.e HTTP/HTTPS.

They are https now.

I also noticed that there is a JS console error, it might be due to a custom JS code or plugin conflict issue. I would suggest you troubleshoot a few of the common issues before we investigate your settings.

I will have a look but it would be great if you could have a look as well at the live site.

If none of those work, It would be best if you could copy your live website to your staging area. and send your details in a secure note so that we can investigate your setting without breaking your live site.

I have created a new staging URL but GoDaddy is causing issues to it as you can see at https://8z4.8ca.myftpupload.com/ and https://8z4.8ca.myftpupload.com/wp-login.php so you have to work on the live site.

Please provide the following details
WordPress Login URL
Admin-level username and password

As mentioned above, the new staging site is not working so please check the issue on the live site (I have already provided you access in the secure note).

Look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks in advance.

Stavros

The staging site has been finally created so you can have a look at it.

I am sending you login credentials to it now via a secure note.

Hello @speed_optimization,

I checked your site it seems that there is a plugin conflict and JS console error with the custom JS code. I went ahead and deactivate the plugin. Please check your site now it seems that it is working fine on my end. I would suggest you please clear your browser cache and then check it. I have not removed the JS code you need to remove the custom JS code from the Theme Options and page JS code.

Please note you must check the common issue before posting a new thread.

Thanks

Dear @prakash_s,

Please check my comments below.

I checked your site

Are we talking about the live site or the staging site?

it seems that there is a plugin conflict and JS console error with the custom JS code.

I went ahead and deactivate the plugin.

Which plugin are you talking about?

Please check your site now it seems that it is working fine on my end.

I checked the live site and I still see all those issues:

A. The homepage is broken without showing the video as the initial screenshot mentioned in the first secure note

B. The issue not being able to edit pages with cornerstone also remains e.g. I edit the homepage and when I click the “Edit with Cornerstone” button, I go to
https://MYDOMAIN.com/cornerstone/content/20
that shows the error:
Not Found
The requested URL was not found on this server.

C. The other pages (apart from the homepage) do not even load.

Needless to say, I have also cleared cache 2-3 times and I am checking the site as logged in user.

I have not removed the JS code you need to remove the custom JS code from the Theme Options and page JS code.

Did you remove it and this fixed the issues mentioning above or not?

Please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Dear @prakash_s

I see that you are referring to the staging site.

I also fixed the JS code issue but the homepage still not showing the video.

How can I make the video load again once again?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Dear @prakash_s

I am troubleshooting this further and I have fixed many issues.

The main problem that I can not figure out is how to make the video to load at the top of the page as it used to show up here https://snipboard.io/SRezfM.jpg

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hello @speed_optimization,

It seems that you added the video through the slider revolution and the slider is not loading since you have set the slider through the page settings, please note if you set the page template as “Blank - No Container | Header, Footer” then you will be able to see the slider above the menu or you can set the slider below the header menu.

Go to Pages —>Select the Page—>Click on the “Edit” button.

Or in case you don’t want to set the slider from the page settings then you can use the Classic Revolution Slider element in the page content then you can insert the slider.

Hope it helps
Thanks

Dear @prakash_s

Thank you for the update.

I set the slider for the homepage as you can see at https://snipboard.io/9XYdit.jpg, I flushed Object cache via “Settings > Object Cache” and flushed page cache via “Managed WordPress > Flush cache” at the live site but then when i access the site at livesite…com/?v=123123a I still can not view the video.

Can you please log in at the live site and add the video and headings for me at the homepage as they were shown in the original screenshot?

Thanks in advance.

Hello @speed_optimization,

Please have a look at the screenrocording video to learn more about how to get the slider working. Please check video URL in the secure note.

Thanks

Thank you for the video @prakash_s

I added the video, there are still a few missing points like the heading and links/buttons but I will most likely figure this out.

Thanks once again.

You are most welcome, @speed_optimization
