Breadcrumbs Showing Draft Pages and Incorrect Hierarchy

Hello!

I’m seeing an issue with the breadcrumbs on one of our archive pages. Instead of showing the correct structure, it’s pulling in unrelated pages — including one that’s currently in draft .

For example, the breadcrumb currently shows:
Home / External APIs (Julie) / Regions / Northern

But it should be:
Home / All Facilities ACF / Northern

  • “External APIs (Julie)” is a draft page and shouldn’t appear in the breadcrumb trail at all.
  • “Regions” also seems to be treated as an archive, but we don’t have a public archive page set up for that taxonomy.

Here’s the URL: https://juliesandbox.wpengine.com/category/regions/northern/
And I’ve attached a screenshot of the breadcrumb output.

Any ideas on what might be causing this or how I can override the breadcrumb trail to reflect the correct hierarchy?

Thanks in advance!

Hello @ahfweb,

Thanks for writing in!

Please be advised that when you create a category or a taxonomy, WordPress automatically generates an archive page for that category, tag or taxonomy. This is what happen to Regions or Northern. Even if you have not created an archive page, it is generated by WordPress.
