Breadcrumbs, Blog posts, Categories and Headers, Ethos, Pro

Hi -

Looking for some help with breadcrumbs on Ethos Stack - Pro version.

1. I am trying to add breadcrumbs to all pages & posts of the site, except the home page, I tried creating a second header and allocating this header to the individual pages but that makes my global header disappear.

2. What I see in the breadcrumbs is Home > “Blog Page” > “Title of blog”; what I should see is Home > “Blog Page” > “Category 1” > “Title of blog” (Note: Some blogs do appear in more than 1 category so I’m not sure how to display the first category)

3. I have an issue with the blogs filtering to an old blog page but I have raised that in another ongoing post with my blog page issue. https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/blog-page-keeps-reverting-to-old-page/45640/4

Thanks for reaching out.

1. Assigning specific header to a post will deactivate whichever global header assigned to it. One page is only limited to one header, you could try adding header bars instead.

1. I tried creating a bar but couldn’t figure out a way to hide it on the homepage.

2. Thx I’ll take a look at it, question is though - does this require a customisation? As all it needs it to identify the blog page name correctly.

Hey @iDigitalise,

1. There’s no option to hide a bar or header based on page type. That could only be done using custom CSS which I would not recommend and is outside the scope of our support to code. You can see what I mean in this screencast at https://youtu.be/-cwp7ahLqqE

2. Yes, this requires customization because the Breadcrumbs element does not have a function or an option for showing a category for single posts.

If your concern is the blog page name, please check or change the title of your blog page. The Breadcrumbs just get the Blog Page title. It does not have a feature to change it.
