Blockquote button missing from Rich Text Editor

Hi,

Once upon a time when Pro was only 4.0.0 old, the blockquote button was removed from the Rich Text Editor toolbar. See changelog: Pro 4.0, X 8.0, Cornerstone 5.0 - Layout Builder Beta

What was the reason for this? Is there any chance it will come back? Currently I’m having to tell my clients to manually type out the blockquote html tags which is a very difficult thing for them to understand if they aren’t used to it.

Oh… I’ve just noticed that even this rich text editor that I’m typing in has it!!! :joy:

Hello @boomfly,

Thanks for writing to us

Currently, there are no built-in options available for blockquote in the Rich Text editor by default. As an alternative, it is recommended to use the classic blockquote shortcode to achieve your desired content design within blockquotes. For detailed instructions and usage examples, please refer to this shortcode example page to learn more about how to use the blockquote shortcode in your content.

Hope it helps
Thanks

Hi @prakash_s,

Thanks for the response. Using shortcodes is similarly confusing to client’s with no html understanding. There used to be a button here for a quote but for some reason it was removed in 2020. What was the reason for this?

Thank you

Hey @boomfly,

It may have been removed because we have a Quote element. But, I will forward this case to our development team to see if the quote button will be restored in the future. For now, please press Shift+Alt+Q because I tested that it works even the button is missing.

Hey @christian,

Thanks for the workaround! That’s great! For me it’s Ctrl+Alt+Q as I’m on a Mac but it works! So the functionality is there, the button isn’t. Hope it returns in future.

Thanks

You are most welcome, @boomfly
