Beta 4: Panes toggle

The Inspector and the Content Properties panels are switched using the UI at the top, but the design doesn’t make clear they are two panes you toggle between, somehow the cog icon and the blue button don’t imply that you are switching between two similar panels.

I’m in the Inspector but the blue button doesn’t imply that’s my context, it looks like I should click it. If you click it, nothing happens.

I’m now in the Content settings where to switch back I click the magnifying glass.

IMO the UI should make very clear which panel you are in, rather than imply the blue button will achieve something.

Hi Bill,

We’re workshopping some alternative ideas for that area. We will most likely be keeping that blue active state since it is shared in other places like the control groups to indicate what you are currently working with, but we are trying to find a better way to work in the name of the current context. We will probably drop “Content Outline” / “Content Settings” and just do “Outline” / “Settings”. At that point we’ll need to represent the current builder as well. Look for some tweaks in the next patch to address this.
