Beta 3 Permissions and Elements

Hello,

The new permissions box is much better which is nice. I did an experiment:

  • I disabled all elements
  • I enabled Row, Col and Text elements
  • I made one component

When I go to add an element to a Div, I’d expect to see four items Row/Col/Text and my component

Here’s what I see. I raised a ticket about this a while back and the answer was PHP to hide all the secondary elements. But surely this should be surfaced in the permissions, as the current outcome makes no sense to me, nor a new user.

Overall this looks like a big leap forward, keep up the good work, Bill.

So the Post and Site elements you see are prefabs of the Row and Text element. Technically they are those elements just with different default values. I think visually what we could in the permission editor is to be able to turn those off as well. Glad you are liking the changes. Have a great day.

That would be perfect. My goal is to customise the Pro experience for an end-user so I have control over what they see of the base elements, and then add components where needed. That way I can minimise the use of Gutenberg and try to mainline on Pro.

I’m totally adjacent now - many thanks for that, Bill

Hi @Charlie - I just checked in RC1, and the permission remain as at the top of this post.

If this could be included soonish that would be great.

Have a nice weekend, Bill.

It’s probably going to be Pro 6.8 thing. There’s some other things we want to get locked down for Cornerstone Forms, Prefabs being one of them. Have a great weekend.
