Hey, @devinelston!
Took some time to go through this and discuss with Alex and we’ve made some general changes to the approach in this dropdown:
- We felt in general there were simply too many commands in there to remember and it’s kind of jarring to open up the menu and see a command everywhere. We essentially paired it back to builders and managers only, because certain destinations like “History” aren’t even as readily needed anymore due to undo / redo being surfaced in the bar, and other destinations like “Design Cloud” aren’t places you’re needing to jump to all the time.
- We needed to free up some logical shortcuts that were being taken up by these other destinations since you found some conflicts in Safari.
That being said, we’ve gone forward with this:
-
Fonts is now
Command + Option + T
(the thinking here is “T” for “Typography”)
-
Colors is
Command + Option + K
(the thinking here is that “K” is used for color management in Photoshop and some other editing apps).
Command + K
for the old Skeleton Mode is gone since that feature is gone now, but what we discussed was keeping the Command + Option + ______
pattern whenever navigating somewhere, and what we’re planning on doing is using numbers for navigating between the panes in the builders. This will ultimately look like:
-
Command + Option + 1
: Outline
-
Command + Option + 2
: Inspector
-
Command + Option + 3
: {{Context}} Settings
-
Command + Option + 4
: Theme Options
Basically it just goes in order with what you see up in the navbar there. This should streamline things greatly as well as addressing everything you’ve mentioned here.
Thanks!
