I’ve been messing about with the designing a header but when I view on the frontend it looks nothing like the preview.

Also, nice touch with the preview switcher, really good!
On the settings tab, try setting an assignment for the header. We should probably disable that “view on front end” button when there are no assignments and perhaps show a message advising how to do that.
