Beta 1 | Changing Page Layout Requires Manual Refresh

If you start on a page with the default layout and then switch to (for example) No Container | Header, Footer, the builder reloads and all looks good but none of the preview is clickable. Saving and manually refreshing then solves the issue.

Hey again,

Not seeing this one either but have a thought. Would it happen to be a somewhat large existing page? I’ve seen a performance issue that causes additional reloads to take a long time making it feel inaccessible.

If that’s not the case, next time you see it, would you mind opening dev tools and letting me know if you see any console errors? If the preview is dead, it might have choked on an error and will give a clue to what’s going on.

Hi Alexander,

Definitely wasn’t a large page, in fact, it was a brand new page with zero content on a fresh install of WP.

That said, I dove in this morning to recreate the issue all fancy-like with a screen recording and everything and it worked flawlessly so… let’s go ahead and chalk it up to an edge case / user issue.

Will let you know if it happens again. But until then… non-issue.

Hi Josh,

We’re going to get the next patch out today, so give that a shot and let me know if it happens again. I did fix one error in particular that when triggered killed the preview frame. Something could have made that happen really early on your site. Can’t confirm it’s the same problem, but the symptom you’ve described could be related to the fix.
