Hi Lypa,
Thank you for reaching out to us. I checked your setup and I see you’ve the old version of child theme which is conflicting with the scroll to top functionality. As soon as I activated your parent theme the button started to work as expected. Please update your child theme to the latest version to fix the issue.
To download and setup the child theme please see https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-how-to-setup-child-themes/57
Since your site is live I’ve reactivated your child theme back. Hope this helps!
Hi Nabeel,
ok, thank you for helping and explaining. I removed the element for now, since we do not have the capacities to make these adaptions on our child theme right now.
Kind Regards,
lypa
Hey Lypa,
To avoid future issues and potential errors, I’d recommend you to update your child theme, Initially you can create a staging site. This is very useful because you can test drive any updates in the staging area, do the customization and troubleshooting without disrupting your live site. Once everything is perfect, you can easily and flawlessly proceed the update in the live site. To know how to create a staging area, please check out these articles:
http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-create-staging-environment-for-a-wordpress-site/, https://maintainn.com/2015/02/how-to-create-a-staging-site-for-wordpress/
Taking a complete backup before any update is a best practice too so make sure to take a backup of your site first. After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.
Hope this helps.
Hi Nabeel
Thanks for the info. Yes, we use a test-run before updating our live site with WP Staging and also backups. But for changing our child theme structure we need time and patience and hire back a developer.
Kind Regards,
lypa
Glad we could help.
Cheers!
