Autoptimize and Cornerstone

Hi

I wannt to use the Autoptimize plugin for minification and some other render blockinng content on my site, but when I activate it, cornerstone doesn’t work. Can you tell me why this is happening and how to fix it? I know it’s a third party plugin, but I think it’s fair that you provide some instruction on this because Autoptimize is a very widely used plugin and works with most other themes and we need to use these kinds of plugins to optimize the site as they are not included with X. Any tips or advice would be very much appreciated,
Thanks
Jamie

Hello Jamie,

Thanks for writing in! All of the X/Pro theme file resources such as the JS and CSS files were already minified. Autoptimize plugin on the other will also minify the JS/CSS files in your site. Then the Cornerstone JS/CSS files were minified again and twice this time which will result to an issue. I would highly recommend that Autoptimize plugin and any other caching plugins should only be activated when you re done creating your site to prevents such as issues.

Hope this helps.

I don’t understand how the site and theme are already minified if, when I go to a pages source code, there’s loads of white space and unnecessary characters?

Hi Jamie,

Sorry for the confusion, we meant the Theme files (see this files mentioned here).

If you used a minifier and/or optimizer plugins and it caused an error, please exclude those theme files mentioned as those are already minified already.

You can follow follow few of our Performance tips here.

Hope it helps,
Cheers!
