Anchor Links Not Working (Safari/Chrome)

Hi,

I’m trying to link to a page anchor and running into trouble. The link doesn’t seem to work. I’m on a Mac and tested in Safari and Chrome. Thoughts?

Here’s the page: https://mysummit.church/summit-church-lincoln-ca-draft/
The button that says “More Info” with the down arrow links to “#lincoln” and the section directly below it has that label.

One possible complication could be that most of the section elements are classic. The #lincoln section is not classic because I created it with the anchoring in mind. But the rest are inherited. Could the be causing problems? I was hoping not to have to rebuild the entire page.

Thanks!
Tim

Hello Tim,

Thanks for writing in! I have checked the page and I found out that there is a JS error in the console. This JS error could be caused by your outdated Cornerstone version (4.2.3). Could you please update to the latest versions?
Our latest versions are:

  • X theme 8.3.3
  • Cornerstone 5.3.3
  • WordPress 5.7
  • PHP 7.4

This latest release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog:

After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

The issue could also be caused by a plugin conflict, amongst other things. Please check out this troubleshooting article here and follow the instructions for the following sections (where appropriate):

Testing for Plugin Conflict
Child Theme
CSS/JS Customization
Disabling Cache
Disabling CDN

The Cornerstone update did the trick. I’d been updating the X theme, but didn’t realize how out of date Cornerstone was. Thanks for the help!

You are most welcome, Tim!
