An Option to switch places of the Breadcrumbs & Toolbar and Tabs

Following habits of working in most applications, I believe most users have the least of cognitive load if they reach for common tasks upwards, instead of downwards. This includes preview sizing, undo/redo, and everything else currently placed at the bottom-right.

On the other hand, the natural area to reach for these tools is occupied by tabs, which are not relevant for current document editing and far less used. Also, if the speed of switching between tabs doesn’t get resolved, personally I will hardly use them anyway.

For this reason, I would love to see an additional preference to switch the position of the Breadcrumbs & Toolbar and Tabs.

Thanks!

@Misho, thanks for writing in. At this time we have no plans to introduce an option to switch these locations. Much of the interface is “locked in” as the height of the Docbar mirrors the height of the tabs for the Workspace, and the height of the bottom toolbar mirrors the height of footer actions in the Workspace. We moved this direction because after a poll, we realized many users didn’t take advantage of the very flexible nature of the old interface, or simply didn’t even know they could move things around as much as they could. With multi-document editing being such a primary focus moving forward, design decisions were primarily made around that during the interface shuffle.
