Adding Filters (Month & Category) to Our Event Calendar – Is There a Simpler Way?

I’d like to add filter options to our small event calendar. I’ve already watched your tutorials on how to build an event calendar without using a plugin, and that worked great.

Now I’d like users to be able to filter events themselves — specifically by month and event category . In your tutorials, you recommend using FacetWP for this. However, since I only need two simple filters (Month and Category), paying $99 per year just for that feels a bit excessive.

Is there another way to implement these two filters without relying on FacetWP?
