If you have followed the way explained in the thread you mentioned, you could have achieved it.
I tried the same to set up the same in my testing site and seems it is working.

If you want to learn more on it, please check this resource.

In case you are using Pro, Header & Footer builder can be the option to achieve it,
you can have the options to build the different header sections which is only visible in Mobile and Desktop.
If you are usin the X theme and wish to acheive the same, I would suggest you to hire a developer for the further customization and modifications or you can avail our new service called One [ link : https://theme.co/one ].
