Add custom font family to font manager with php filter

I’m trying to add a custom font family to the Font Manager without uploading font files. Is there a way to add custom font families via functions.php using a filter? I found this but the filter doesn’t seem to work:

Thanks for reaching out.

If you would like to add your custom fonts you need to add a font files in order for them work properly on your website, even though you add it via functions.php you still need to upload the font files. I suggest that you will just use the font manager because it is easier for you to use it.
