I am not seeing the retina option doing anything for images in Beta 3. The right output sizes are being inserted into the img tag, but it is being overridden by other style definitions:
blank and starter theme styling should be using max-width for images when comparing to other stacks. I’ll get that changed in the next beta. Thanks for testing!
