4.2.3 | Modal breaks on backend unrelated to WP 5.7

With the latest Pro update modals fail to render on the backend preview with the message “This element failed to render. Additional information may be found in your browsers developer tools.”

I noticed a thread here that says that you are aware of the issue and that it is related to WP5.7 update. That said, it is happening to me on a site running Pro 4.2.3 and WP 5.4.2 and another site running 4.2.3 WP 5.7.

Appears to only be happening with the content area modal (at least on my end).

Thanks.

Updating with console info:

I can confirm i see the same on all my updated Pro sites across various WP versions.

Same here.

I’m also getting a lot of “failed to render the page” with pages with iFrames. If I refresh then the page loads.

Thanks everyone. We’ve fixed this for the next update. We won’t be pushing another release on the 4.2 cycle but Pro 4.3 is scheduled to be released early April and we’ll be releasing a beta soon - as early as this Friday, but possibly Monday of next week.

Hey @alexander - I’ve got the same issue in the builder. Great to hear the fix is coming!
Would it have anything to do with some funky modal behaviour that I’ve noticed on a couple of sites where the modal loads 5 times (and is in the code 5 times) so they layer on top of each other and close when you click it?

It’s OK for modals in the header but not on pages.

This one is actually a massive problem and should really be fixed before the next release. We can style anything in the builder as you can’t see it at all.

@RubberDuckers, I don’t think that’s related. Would be interested to know if you’re still getting that after updating to 4.3 (the beta was just released. If you’re still seeing it after updating, let me know in a new thread and I’ll check it out.

@urchindesign, I understand how it can be quite an inconvenience but because the front end of the site is still functional it isn’t something we’d consider mission critical to do a point release on it’s own when we’re close enough to another launch cycle.
