300 spams and a virus in cornerstone forms

My first and very important registrationform: and hundreds of false forms and a virus (overnight). I don´t feel safe using CF. What should I do?

Did you activate any captcha? Just curious.

Checkout our doc on Captcha. We offer a number of different solutions. Just setup your secret keys and place one of the Captcha elements on your form and you should be good to go. Let us know if you have any additional questions.

I had the same problem in other plugin forms too, like events manager booking form.

However, due to data protection regulations, it is not always easy to use a captcha, especially in Europe. Are there hooks in CS Forms that we can use to place and verify our own hidden fields?

After placing a few of my own honeypots and tokens in Events Manager, spam is currently down to zero.

I see 0 spam coming through with just a honeypot trap on all forms I’ve ever implemented. Perhaps CS Forms could get a native honeypot trap feature as well?

Yes, basic protection would be very desirable. :+1: Count me in +1

However, honeypot fields would then have to be created very dynamically if they should come directly from Cornerstone Forms.

More than a year ago, I experienced that the honeypot fields in Fluent Forms were no longer sufficient and they implemented an additional token field. Since then, spam stays away so far.

Isn’t the point of HCaptcha is that it is GDPR compliant?

We could certainly add a honeypot field. I know from experience you need more than that though and wouldn’t recommend it. Checkout our “Nonce” prefab too.

Okay, can you please tell us whether Cornerstone provides hooks for integrating such fields ourselves?

That is true.

The honeypot feature would simply be a nice to have additional option, and not a super essential feature. So far I’ve never needed to implement a captcha solution on Forminator forms where I just check the honeypot option. Quick, easy and no 3rd party setup.
