It’s empty span tags.
Why add empty tags with no content within it? The code could be cleaned and right now output empty tags for no reason see my example above. U haven’t removed anything.

Thank you for the clarification. That empty span tag is used for styling purpose which is important to have the intended functionality.

However you can turn this feature Off by inspecting your menu in Header Builder and navigate to Sub Links > Primary Particle Setup:

hmm okay does not look like the best code practice to solve what is archivable.

Is the Primary Particle Setup the hover js animation for the sub-menu?

Okay but dont see why you need an empty span for this. There is other ways without using empty tags to archive this.
