2 column layout with left column sticky content?

Any tips how to build a page that’s like this,

1. The black area is a hero image
2. The left menu/left column is a sticky, so it will always be visible and once the user scroll pass the hero section, it’ll anchor to the top of the page with a gap of let say 50px
3. Whereas on right, it’ll be a continuous scrolling till the bottom of the page
4. I suppose when end of page, the left menu/column will no longer be sticky (if this makes sense)
5. Click on the link will cause the right section to smooth scroll to the anchor
