DominicXXVParticipantHi, Should I use the child theme included with X, even though I have no intention of modifying the theme any time soon? I’m new to WP, but want to make sure I’m starting my site on the right foot. I already downloaded and installed the child theme. I’m just not sure if I should be working with that or the parent theme at this juncture.
Thanks.

DominicXXVParticipantPS: When I say I have no intention of modifying the theme anytime soon, I mean major modifications.
Just seems there’s no harm in using the child theme from the start, but I’m just not entirely sure.

RahulModeratorHey There,
Thanks for choosing X!
No, having a child theme doesn’t make any changes to the working functionality of the current parent theme, X. However, child themes are often used when you want to customize or tweak an existing WordPress theme without losing the ability to upgrade that theme. Since you are not going to make any modifications, you can avoid using it.
Hope this makes sense!

DominicXXVParticipantIf I want to make modifications down the road, would I then install and use the child theme?

RahulModeratorHey There,
Thanks for writing back!
Yes, to avoid losing the data of your main parent theme, it is always recommended to use a Child theme, so you will not lose any of your site’s important data if you make any updates to the theme.
You can make simple modifications using the Customizer of the theme, however, if you are looking for some major modification with your theme, you should use Child Theme.
To know how to setup a Child theme, kindly follow this thread :

DominicXXVParticipantThank you! One more quick question. For blog posts, is it better to just use WP to create and edit the posts? Cornerstone seems to be best for creating pages, but for posts it seems as though WP is better for posts that will all share the same formatting.

RahulModeratorHey There,
Thanks for writing back!
Cornerstone is an advance page builder which comes as a bundled plugin with the X theme. You can use Cornerstone to build pages, however you can only edit the pages within the Cornerstone only. For more information, you can follow below given link :
For blog posts, you should use WordPress default template which allows you to add, edit, trash, modify blog posts easily.
Hope this helps!
