LelyModeratorHello Leanna,
Thank you for the FTP credentials. This issue happens usually if your PHP is not updated. See this thread:
https://community.theme.co/forums/topic/convertplug-error-parse-error/
But then you said on a previous reply that is indeed updated. Just to make sure, I have uploaded phpinfo.php on your root folder. You can access it here:https://www.tellasia.org/phpinfo.php. As you can see you’re still on PHP 5.2.17. Please update to at least 5.4.**Feel free to delete phpinfo.php after that.
Hope this helps.

LeannaParticipantRight. Convert Plug, it seems, crashed both my sites and host was saying since htaccess kept changing to 444 I was full of malware but three anti-malware tools said I was clean. So since it all started with Convert Plug I figure it caused my PHP to revert back to 5.2 or something weird… I spent hours today trying to get the PHP back to 5.6 and finally have it back, but don’t want to come anywhere near Convert Plug, but am stuck on what to use now for both contact forms and popups…

LelyModeratorHello Leanna,
Can you try Convertplug again so we can check why it stop on the first place? We want to check if there’s any error.

LeannaParticipantOk I’ll put it on my personal website http://www.leannacinquanta.com, it isn’t the end of the world if that one crashes but it is serious when http://www.tellasia.org crashes. Currently http://www.leannacinquanta.com is verified to be running on php 5.6. The popup is now functioning again on the “contact” item in FOOTER menu.

JoaoModeratorHi There,
I was able to click on the contact link and fill up your Convertplug form on your website.
Would you mind providing more details about your issue?
Thanks
Joao

LeannaParticipantyes I just saw your test email come through.
Well, only time will tell I suppose. I am only suspecting ConvertPlug of being a gateway to malware, because of the following things that happened to BOTH my sites very soon after installing ConvertPlug on BOTH:- I got a notice fro Sucuri, my paid anti-malware app, that I had malware. Immediately afterward I got a notice that the malware was cleaned/the site was fine.
- However then a colleague notified me the site was down and indeed it was.
- Host tech support said CONVERT PLUG was the problem. However that may have been because
- PHP had reverted to 5.2 which is too low to run ConvertPlug
- So I entirely deleted Convert Plug and began tryingto get php 5.6 back but it refused to update. Two techs at my host said I had malware becuase .htaccess kept changing to 444, however three anti-malware apps said I was clean.
- I went in FTP and deleted htaccess and created a new file.
- Finally a fourth tech got htaccess to stick at 0644 and php updated to 5.6

RadModeratorHi there,
Does it fixes the issue? And yes, PHP should be as 5.6, it’s WordPress’ recommended version and not just by ConvertPlug.
I just checked it and it works, your site isn’t crashing and there is no error. I checked https://www.tellasia.org/ and ConvertPlug is inactive, but it’s quite slow on my end. Takes time to load the admin. Would you mind increasing your site’s memory limit? I’m not sure about that, but maybe it’s not working due to performance and it can’t run altogether.
Thanks!

LeannaParticipantI haven’t activated it on http://www.tellasia.org in fear of it crashing the site. So… now I’ll activate. Correct, the memory limit is standard as I had to reset .htaccess. Would you mind reminding me the code to up the memory limit and where it goes?
Are you SURE that ConvertPlug does not have any malware? Something was causing my htaccess to change to 444, which in turn caused my php to revert to 5.2, which crashed ConvertPlug. So the htaccess permission change is I think what started all the problems and this it seems is from malware.
I’ve activated ConvertPlug on http://www.tellasia.org same place, in contact item of footer just for testing until we’re confident it’s going to run ok… just check.
Are you sure there’s no conflict btw ConvertPlug and my form which is Fast Secure Contact Form? (I know X recommends Contact Form 7 but it has no captcha)

RadModeratorHi Leanna,
Our copies of ConvertPlug has no malware, but I’m not sure about your copy. Or else, we’ll get many complaints about it.
Though, it should be detected by your security plugin or feature if there is any malware.
And as I was saying, your site’s is slow even if ConvertPlug is inactive, hence, it could be related to something else. About the memory limit, please edit your site’s wp-config.php and add this code below the WP_DEBUG
define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M');This time, your site’s is loading smoothly and ConvertPlug is working properly. Which is weird, it should be crashing if it’s caused by ConvertPlug. Could it be due to traffic? Is this shared hosting?
Let me know once the memory limit is increased.
Thanks!

LeannaParticipantThanks. Everything appears to be working fine right now. Apparently something caused the php to revert to 5.2 which caused Convertplug to crash. As long as the php reains 5.6 I expect to have no further issues.
Memory limit was already set as follows; define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘3000M’);
Do you think the site is still slow? that is why I was trying to get rid of some plugins by using convertplug so maybe I can now get back to that.

JoaoModeratorHi There,
Your websites seems fine.
Would you mind clarifying in what point you still need assistance?
Thanks

LeannaParticipant!!!!&*%$^#$!!! MY SITES ALL CRASHED AGAIN! tHEY WENT BACK to php5.2, ConvertPlug then froze the site and my sites have been down for at least 24 hours without me knowing it. That does it, I cannot continue to use convert plug! Finished. I do not know what is causing my site to revert to 5.2, all I know is BEFORE installing Convertplug I had no problems. (I have put the sites back up by disabling ConvertPlug and reinstalling php 5.6).

RadModeratorHi there,
Sorry to hear that, but you may want to check it with your hosting provider. Any script has no capability to alter PHP version since it’s integrated into the hosting’s system. It might be related to something else, error logs or any logs from your hosting may help.
It’s weird and this my first seeing such issues related to switching PHP version due to script.
Thanks!
