ChristianModeratorHey Cheryl,
Please see https://community.theme.co/kb/updating-your-theme-and-plugins/ to learn how to update X and the bundled Extensions.
Thanks.

CherylwoodmanParticipantHi Christian,
I have verified my theme, so I should be able to do a 1-click update as the tutorial you shared suggests… (copied below) – I do not have a 1 click update on my dashboard or anywhere else I would normally update plug-ins from. Why is this? Why am I not receiving the 1-click update?
•Once enabled, you will receive automatic notification in your dashboard when an update is available.
•Automatic updates are provided this way for X, Cornerstone, and all X Extensions.
•They are automatic in the sense that the process of replacing the files is handled for you, but it is not “unattended”, meaning you will be able to run them at your convenience.
•To run an update, visit Dashboard > Updates in your WordPress dashboard.
•Automatic updates checks every 12 hours for new versions that may be available. You can manually check by clicking Check Again on either the X or Cornerstone home page. Thanks,
Cheryl

Rue NelModeratorHello Cheryl,
I investigated your site and found out that you have the version which has an issue that no update notification will display on the dashboard. This is version 4.1.1. I would recommend that you update X and Cornerstone manually. (Please see Manual Updates section here: https://community.theme.co/kb/updating-your-theme-and-plugins/)
To do so, you need to login to your ftp and upload the latest version of X which you can download from your dashboard (https://community.theme.co/dashboard/).
If you could give us your ftp access, I could update it for you to avoid any more troubles.
Please let me know.

RadModeratorHi there,
Sorry for the confusion, but we really don’t do updates on a live site. There is a chance that update will break it if there is a big gap between versions.
Before we continue, please backup your entire site or setup a duplicate of your live site as staging/test site.
If you’re not familiar of any of this process, then it’s best to contact a developer that can help you. I really love to help, but we’re just trying to avoid more conflicts and issues.
Thanks for understanding.

CherylwoodmanParticipantHi Themeco,
I am more than a little worried now, I am not a very techy person which is part of the reason why I chose the X theme – it’s all built in which is great.
I will back-up my site this week. I did find a Youtube video on how to manually update a sites theme (your linked page within this conversation doesn’t actually tell you how to do this) – is this the correct way to update a theme?
I hope the newest will have the automatic 1-click updates that I can use for all the built-in plus-ins…

RupokMemberHi there,
If you have validated your site then you can update it right from your dashboard. Let’s check updte from Dashboard > Updates.
In case you can’t see any update, you can find the latest version numbers here: (http://theme.co/changelog/) Then you can compare them to what’s installed on your site.
If you find anything to be out of date, you can review our update guide.
Cheers!

CherylwoodmanParticipantHi Rupok,
Perhaps you didn’t read the history of this thread?
Apparently the version of the X theme I have, had a fault where automatic updates are not triggered through the normal process on the wordpress dashboard areas.
This is why I need to manually update the X theme on my site.
Please can you help me to do this?

FriechModeratorHi Cheryl,
Sorry about that, yes we love to help you with this. Would you mind providing us a FTP credentials (not siteground login).
Regarding the YouTube video that you share. Yes, you can do that with the X|Theme, however the customizer settings was not mentioned on the video which you’ll lose when you switch to a different theme.
So you need to backup/export the customizer settings first before you switch theme. To do that navigate to Addons > Customizer Manager > Export then keep that .xcs file on your local machine since you need to import that back later when you switch back to X.
But we still strongly recommend doing the manual update via FTP. Basically its the same process; delete the old one and upload the latest version.
That may look intimidating at first, but actually that is more popular because it is easier and practical.
Thanks.

CherylwoodmanParticipantHi Darshana,
Thankyou! The fonts had changed, but I’ve switched them back and all else seems to be working fine.
Thankyou so much for your help, you guys are great!
