DarshanaModeratorHi there,
I have validated your site using our temporary license key and then updated X theme & plugins. You can now head over to X Addons section and try validating it using your purchase key.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!November 14, 2016 at 9:58 am #1256567
Stewart LParticipantHi.
Thanks for looking into my problems. Unfortunately there are still issues.
1.Although I have validated X and it verifies this—see image—when i attempt to open up Cornerstone/Home in WP Dashboard it says ‘ Almost there …..Not validated’ and i am not able to open templates etc in ‘AddOns’ It just keeps sending me off in a never-ending loop.
2.I’m in the process of re-building everything with Cornerstone but some of its functionality is missing. ie
When adding ‘Custom Headlines’ there is no ‘Looks like’ dropdown. I disabled all plug-ins to check for conflicts but it changes nothing. A knock-on effect of this is that all headers aren’t picking up the Google font information that is present in the footer widgets and elsewhere on the site.
3.Lightbox has broken. I’m trying to work out why as all the short-codes seem to be all ok. Do i need to re-build these pages from scratch?
4. Most of the elements in the Preview Area do not show-up in real-time and the loading icon is a permanent feature —see image— so i’m working in the dark. I have to save-out pages to check if they are correct or not. Not ideal.I can’t believe that the php issue is the cause of all these faults. Its really frustrating as the site was working ok until i updated everything 🙁
As a possible fix i tried to use VC but it tells me it needs a direct license. I was under the impression that this was bundled in the X Theme?
Sorry for all the questions, but i need to get this sorted.November 14, 2016 at 7:20 pm #1257318
FriechModeratorHi There,
Before we tackle those issues lets correct your X installation, this could be the issue in first place.
There are two instances of X|Theme on your site a new version (4.6.4) and an old one (2.0.1), please delete the old version.
Then login to your server via FTP, navigate to /v2/wp-content/themes/, from there you will see a folder named new_x that is the X|Theme. Please rename that back to x, that is the reason why Cornerstone is asking for validation.
After doing this you might need to activate and re-validate the x|theme again, so I’d advice you keep a backup of your customizer settings under Addons > Customizer Manager > Export.
Remember to clear all caches after updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks.

Stewart LParticipantThanks for the message. I will do that but i need clarification before i proceed.
I just noticed that your colleague Darshana installed X v 4.6.4 via the WP Dashboard.
I have been doing installations via FTP and your team prefers installing via Dashboard. This seems to be the reason behind the conflicts.I had previously had a child theme that was active and i was swapping between the folders v2.0.1 and v4.6.4 (appended with name OLD & NEW) via FTP and deleting the suffix in order to maintain the correct path. This was so as not have to go through the process of de-installing/installing each version while experimenting between the 2 versions and attempting to find a stable configuration to keep the site live. This set-up wasn’t taken into account when Darshna updated the theme and accordingly the active folder on the FTP now appears to be called X and the old one is called X_new
I therefore re-built the site last night without realising the changes had been made via the WP Dashboard and this means that all new mods are within the X v4.6 and not the child theme as before. Is it safe to just delete the old theme via Dashboard? Is there an easy way of transferring all the new mods to a new child theme? Is that the purpose of the .json (customiser export) file?
ThanksNovember 15, 2016 at 4:54 am #1257719
Paul RModeratorHi Stewart,
There is no need to transfer, all your modification in your customizer, pages and posts are being stored in the database and not on a physical file in your theme.
So you may change between your parent theme and child theme without affecting your theme settings.
But you may export(customizer export) your settings as a backup just in case.
Thanks

Stewart LParticipantTidied up the install and things are starting to work better.
Despite the Cornerstone live preview pane continuing to be troublesome (ie not displaying live preview) i’m in a good place now. Managed to re-create the site. It’s actually looking better now and clearly it’s more stable with v4x instead of v2x 😉
Thanks for all the help.

Stewart LParticipantHi. I just wanted to update you on the situation.
After adding a php.ini file to my root which increased the memory/upload limits of php for wordpress, the preview pane in Cornerstone works as it should now, so in actual fact it wasn’t a case of using a legacy version of php that was causing the problem.I have one last question now the site is rebuilt and live. When i enter a search string in the global nav— in this case ‘aluminium’ and ‘timber’ it returns a result for a page/post/something that does not actually exist. See 1st entry in image attached. It appears to be a note or a tag that i added on the date shown but I have searched in the back-end for anything relating to the date shown with no joy. I have ensured all non used pages are ‘drafts’, No erroneus portfolio or blog posts are visible etc etc. Can you shed some light as to the source of this problem please? FYI. A similar search for ‘UPVC’ does not return this type of error.
Thanks for all your help. X Theme really is a pretty amazing fully-featured theme when everything works as should. 🙂
