Chris StovallParticipantSo, everything is up to date and seemed to be working fine. Now I just need to move an element on the page.
No go. As soon as I grab an element, the entire page shifts and the ability to move down the page while holding an image or anything else no longer works. This was not in issue in 4.4.1 but is an issue in 4.4.2. This is on all of my X theme sites and is happening is all browsers on the Mac.

Please help me get this corrected asap so that I can service my clients.
Thanks!

RadModeratorHi Chris,
Thanks for writing in.
I have no problem with drag/drop on my end, but I may able to find the issue if I can compare your setup to mind. Would you mind providing your site’s admin login credentials in private reply?
Thanks!

RupokMemberHi there,
Thanks for writing back. Are you facing this on any specific page? I have tried Cornerstone but didn’t face this on your site.
You can also switch to Skeleton mode for better drag and drop experience.
Cheers!

Chris StovallParticipantThis is on all updated cornerstone sites I have running. From all of my computers and all of my browsers. It’s not an isolated instance. What browser and os are you using?
April 25, 2016 at 12:58 pm #899014
Chris StovallParticipantI understand what you’re saying. But here are videos of it doing it in every browser I have. So what does that mean? It’s not on my end. My operating system doesn’t control every browser. And if every browsers is doing the exact same thing, it’s the site. And the site is X theme. And this only happened after updating to 4.4.2. It was FINE before that. The fact that as soon as you grab an item, the page moves and makes it so you can’t scroll up or down is pretty terrible. I breaks the functionality of why I’m using X theme.

Safari: http://sharing.giant.is/x-theme/safari.mov
Chrome: Posted aboveAs far as skeleton mode goes. It also doesn’t really work. The client has added one dog. It appear near the top of the page. I need to move all of the dogs over and down one. Skeleton mode does not allow you to move between rows. You can see that in this video.

JackKeymasterHi there Chris,
Thanks for writing back, I’ve checked this in Firefox and Chrome and I’m not able to replicate the issue, here’s a screencast of what I see http://screencast.com/t/WrrNu980VdZM
When I try and drag the element, I can still scroll up or down the page while holding the element, is there perhaps a browser add-on that you have installed across both Chrome and Firefox for example. Are you using El Captain or Yosemite for your OSX?
Thank you!
April 26, 2016 at 9:53 am #900453
Chris StovallParticipantI have no plugins running in any browsers. It’s all 3 browsers (chrome, firefox and safari) on my desktop and also on my laptop. I’m running 10.10.5 and current browsers.
This only became an issue when updating from 4.4.1 to 4.4.2.
I was reading that you updated a lot of javascript stuff. I’m assuming that has something to do with it.
What do you suggest as a way to combat this?

Chris StovallParticipantWhat about this from the above questions?
As far as skeleton mode goes. It also doesn’t really work. The client has added one dog. It appear near the top of the page. I need to move all of the dogs over and down one. Skeleton mode does not allow you to move between rows. You can see that in this video.

Chris StovallParticipantHere is someone else with the same issues.
https://community.theme.co/forums/topic/moving-an-element-between-sections-glitch/
And if you go to our facebook users group, you’ll find even more with the issue.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/xthemeusers/Please STOP saying you can’t replicate it and find a solution. For some of us, including me, this is a business dependent function of the theme. It’s broken. Please fix it ASAP!
Try on a mac! Try from an outside server that where you guys are all working from. Try something. This is a REAL issue and it’s a REAL Problem at the moment.

JackKeymasterHi Chris,
I’ve asked the lead developer of Cornerstone to take a look at this.
My screencast above was from a Mac, and others have tried on Windows, Mac, all browsers etc.
Hopefully the lead developer of Cornerstone will have some further insight as to what’s happening here. Regarding the issue with Skeleton mode I can replicate that and that has been reported.
Thanks for your patience here, the lead developer should be online later today to take a look at the issue.

Chris StovallParticipantGreat. Thank you. Based on the chat in the Facebook group there a quite a few people with the same issue. The fact that someone can login to the site and not have the same problem is very interesting though. But in 100% sure it’s the software as it only happens to sites that are running 4.4.2.
Thanks for your help and continued support.

AlexanderKeymasterHi Chris,
I’m sorry you’re having issues and I understand you’re frustrated here. I would appreciate if you could kindly take the tone down a notch. Our team is doing what they can to help and we wouldn’t tell you we can’t replicate the issue if that wasn’t the case. I’m happy to take a closer look here.
The thread you’re referencing is an entirely different issue, which depends on the destination column being empty, and doesn’t affect scrolling. I’ve updated that thread with more info. I noticed your Facebook thread, but aside from Miso’s issue I don’t see any confirmations of the exact problem you’re seeing.
As for skeleton mode, it’s never been possible to move an entire column in either skeleton mode or visually. You would need to move the column contents individually.
I’ve logged into your K9 site, and tried things out on a Mac (10.11.4) in Chrome and Firefox. I’ve tried with a trackpad, and with a mouse, and everything seems to be working fine on your site. I saved a block of your dogs page, and imported it into a test page. Here’s a video in Chrome: https://www.dropbox.com/s/41prt2nmzeoaxtx/cornerstone-test.m4v?dl=0
If I understand correctly, you’re having problems with 2 things. Let’s start with some additional clarification.
1. The page jumps when you pickup an element. The page will shift when you pickup an element if you have hidden elements like gaps. This is so their position can be considered when moving elements into a column. This could be responsible for the “jump” you’re seeing. This has been part of Cornerstone since version 1.2.0 (March 29th). This is more noticeable if you have several gaps on the page.
2. You can’t scroll while holding an element. Cornerstone 1.1.0 (January 22nd) included a rewrite of all drag/drop functionality. The result was a smoother experience, and the ability to see a preview of elements as they were moved around. It was previously possible to move your mouse to the bottom and have the page scroll. Since the drag/drop update, you need to scroll the page yourself while holding down the element.
Let me know if either of these address what you’re experiencing. It would help if we could clear up any confusion on intended behavior before moving forward with any troubleshooting.

Chris StovallParticipantI guess what’s frustrating is how hard I have to work to prove there’s an issue. The Facebook thread confirms more than just me are having the issue. If it were my machine, switching browsers and using a different machine should fix the issue. How can it be isolated to just me if it happens everywhere I use cornerstone. I now have 4 sites running 4.4.2 and they all have the issue. The sites I have yet to update do not have the issue.
As far as my tone, this is now the 3rd day I’ve been trying to prove that I actually do have an issue that needs to be resolved. My clients are patient, and so am I to a point. I’m also on the beta testing forum and would over to have more time for input if I could ever get these sites all updated and stable.
So your saying that updating from 4.4.1 to 4.4.2 I’ll need to use the mode and keyboard to scroll on the page?
April 27, 2016 at 1:37 pm #902797
Chris StovallParticipantSo what’s the exact process to move an element up or down on a page? The arrow keys do nothing. Is there some trick to holding an element and scrolling at the same time? Am I to believe that this is what you’re selling new customers. A crazy weird way to move stuff on a page. Shouldn’t it be drag and drop?
