I’ve lost my confidence in unistalling and reinstalling WP.

Can you point me to a reliable and well detailed “how to” for this.

I’m really nervous about permanently losing stuff even though I run auto backups by Softaculous.

Sorry to be such a wimp.

I’m pretty concerned about deleting then reinstalling WP.

You guys probably laugh at how simple and easy it is.

But I’m really worried about doing it on my own.

Can you point me to some good detailed and complete “how to” do it?

I know my limits and I don’t want to screw things up beyond repair.

    Hi there,

In that case, don’t do it on the live site. You can try cloning your site into development site. It can be on sub domain or sub folder. You can use All in one migration plugin and export your site, and import it to development site to clone. You can do this over and over if the re-installation fails.

And to install new WordPress core files, download a zip package from here that matches your WordPress version https://wordpress.org/download/release-archive/

Extract the zip package and upload all files to your cloned site, overwriting all files except wp-config.php. The wp-config.php should stay intact.

    Thanks!

    Greetings

I’ve managed to setup a subdomain and install WP.

I’ve also installed X on the subdomain.

But I can’t activate X on the subdomain. I get this message:
Your code is valid but looks like it has already been used on another site. You can revoke and re-assign within your Themeco account.

I’m assuming I’ll need both sites running while I check out the wp install on the subdomain?

Or do I activate it only for the subdomain and then go back later and re-activate it on the main domain?

I know it says I can revoke and re-assign it later but sometimes instructions like that don’t always happen in reality.

Should I do that (revoke the main site) or is there a way I can have both the main and sub domain active at the same time?

    Hi There,

On https://community.theme.co/my-account/ you have the option to assign your URL + devlopment URL

    Have you assigned both URLS?

    Let us know,

    Joao

    Thanks for the reply.

So far I’ve only assigned the license to the main site.

What’s to procedure to also assign it to the subdomain?

    Hi There,

    Go to https://community.theme.co/my-licenses/

Below your website URL you will find a tiny lightgrey text, Add Development Environment (Optional)

Click there and add the devlopment URL.

    Hope that helps

    Joao
