JoaoModeratorHi there,
Please try resetting your WordPress files and folders permissions. The correct settings can be found at http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2014/05/08/proper-wordpress-filesystem-permissions-ownerships/.
After resetting folders and files permissions, please keep all third party plugins disabled and try to install X addons plugins.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks
Joao

Paul RModeratorHi,
Please try revalidating your theme.
Revoke license then validate again.

Hope that helps.

margjordanParticipantThis does no change anything. Look, I have had this site with the x theme for 8 months or so with no big issues. The last update changed something.

Rue NelModeratorHello There,
I reactivated the slider revolution slider and test your site. I can confirm that you cannot install plugins. Is this the issue you are talking about?
WordPress will ask for FTP information if the user under which the Web server service is running does not have access to write to the website (public_html). So in this case, since WordPress is using such user and when trying to add files to the website it is failing, it asks for the FTP details to connect to the server via FTP instead and still be able to upload the files to the website.
That is why it also takes longer. FTP is much slower as a protocol, and the way it works.
It is also possible to save FTP details in a WordPress installation, mainly in the wp-config.php file. You can read more about it here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php
Hope the above explains it all.

margjordanParticipantThank you, slider revolution now works, not sure what changed. I added the other addons i am currently using from the addon panel with no issues months ago, but after the last update I could no longer do this.
I will try updating saving FTP details in the wpconfig file. Consider this thread closed.
