Selection of pages no longer can edit in Cornerstone and odd symbols

Good afternoon,

I have a selection of pages which I can no longer edit in cornerstone. I have only ever used cornerstone but the ‘edit page’ option at the top of the page is no longer there. If I go into the wordpress backoffice it displays all of the code of that page and if I click the cornerstone tab a message pops up saying:

’Hold up! The content has been modified outside of Cornerstone. Editing in Cornerstone will replace the current content. Do you wish to continue?'

What is odd is these pages also have odd symbols on the pages such as  and “ which I think are spaces and quotations.

It seems to only effected mainly a type of page - like this one: http://www.restorationcake.com/cacao-brownies/

which I would call the recipe page. There are 55 of these pages.

Where other layouts (like the homepage) which are completely fine.

Look forward to your thoughts. Login Details in Secure note.

Hello @hyperdrive_boom,

Thanks for reaching out.

I checked the page and the message usually shows up when page is edited or opened outside Cornerstone. Please check following thread for some more details:

For some suggestion, please take a look at following thread.

Thanks.

Good morning and this is the odd thing,

these pages have definitely not been edited outside of cornerstone - in fact if you check out the revision history of http://www.restorationcake.com/sugarpaste-bows/ it has not been touched for 3 years and the items that were changed were through cornerstone.

Also the strange symbols "“ ” " are not in the revision section

Help!

Hi Jason,

It looks like your cornerstone data has been corrupted. Though I am not sure what triggered it. Did you recently add any plugins or custom codes to your site?

The only way to fix this is to restore your page or your site to a time where everything works correctly.
Most hosting providers have backups available so I suggest you contact your host and check for backups.

Thanks

Good afternoon and thank you for your reply,

in the end it seems it was to do with the strange characters that I mentioned: https://theblogpress.com/blog/seeing-weird-characters-on-blog-how-to-fix-wordpress-character-encoding-latin1-to-utf8/

this was causing Cornerstone I believe to think it was edited outside of itself - hosting fixed this and now everything works!

Thank you for your time
Jason

Glad you were able to resolve it
