Modern Event Calendar - event detail pages are 404

I have installed Modern Event Calendar PRO and created events:
http://dev.pacificboychoiracademy.org/hear-us-sing/

When you click on an event detail page, it just gives a 404 message:
http://dev.pacificboychoiracademy.org/events/shakespeare-macbeth-1-2/?occurrence=2019-03-15

I logged a ticket with webnus and after I gave them login credentials, they say the problem lies with the theme:
https://webnus.ticksy.com/ticket/1906912/

Can you guys take a look at this? I am supposed to launch the site Wednesday.

I found this support topic, but its not giving me any helpful information - the screen doesn’t match what I am seeing (there is no Style field):

thank you!!

Hi Jennifer,

Thank you for reaching out to us. This could be related to your permalinks structure. To check this, go to Settings > Permalinks, select Plain option and save your settings.

We’ve also found this happening due to incorrect slug settings, here’s one case https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/single-event-on-404-error-page-events-calendar/14554/3. Also see https://webnus.net/dox/modern-events-calendar/slug-options/

Sometimes re-saving the events work, try re-saving your events and see if this resolves the issue.

Also make sure your Modern Event Calendar plugin is compatible with our latest release of theme stated here: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-version-compatibility/195

If nothing works then please check for the following first:

  1. Clear all caches including browser cache then turn off your endurance cache in Admin > Settings > General and other optimization plugins.

  2. Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

If you still have problems kindly get back to us with the result of the steps above and URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard using the Secure Note functionality of the post to follow up the case.

Thanks.

First of all, thank you for much for looking into this.

Right off the top of my head, I don’t want to switch to plain permalinks, because that will just use numbers for URLs and not memorable text, correct? Here is the sample given: http://dev.pacificboychoiracademy.org/?p=123

I am running
X Theme 6.4.6 - latest version
Cornerstone - 3.4.6 - latest
Modern Events Calendar 3.4.0 - latest

I changed the Main Slug to “concerts” and then back to “events” and it didn’t work BUT I changed it back to concerts and it worked!

Of course, now that I see the event detail page, I see that it is not including the google map. so now I’m trying to troubleshoot that:
http://dev.pacificboychoiracademy.org/concerts/cantata-collective-program-8/?occurrence=2019-03-17

Also, neither of the calendar buttons are working. No!!

The detail page does not have the “More info” link on there either  Nor does it have event date/time/register and share on the sidebar.

Hi,

Have you added your google map api key?

Please check links below for your guide on MEC Settings.

Hope it helps

I regenerated the Google Maps API key and its still not showing up, but neither is anything in the sidebar. I rechecked all other Google settings and they match the recommendations on the link you posted.

same with social settings. they are all good. have you ever had an instance of the WHOLE sidebar not showing up?

I really appreciate your help, I’m desperate! the plugin author appears to be not local, given the delay in responses and word choices they use. plus they have been really unhelpful, just sending me basic articles.

I am more than happy to provide a login if that helps!

Hi Jennifer,

Sure, please provide your admin login credentials in a secure note.

I like to do further testing and checking.

Thanks!

details are below in the secure note - just FYI I gave the order to launch the site (I ran out of time) so if you have any issues access it, try www.pacificboychoiracademy.org - and please let me know.

thank you SO MUCH I really appreciate your help!

Hi Jennifer,

Unfortunately, the username is invalid. Please provide the correct one.

Thanks!

ok I created a new one (although I checked and that username is good):

Hello Jennifer,

We were able to login using the given credentials. The problem is that we cannot check the WP admin settings. Kindly change the role of the user and at least make it as an administrator so that we maybe able to check the WP dashboard and your settings.

Thank you in advance.

hey there! sorry this is such a pain, I don’t mean to be difficult. we are having the host support team change the URL to pacificboychoir.org - as soon as that is done, I can make the user an administrator. again, THANK YOU for your help.

Hi Jennifer,

Sure, please let us know once ready.

Thanks!

the site has been migrated! New URL: www.pacificboychoir.org

I made the themes user an Administrator, so if you log in now you should be good.

by the way, webnus sent me this link: https://webnus.net/dox/modern-events-calendar/single-events-sidebar/ - a video which has no sound and no explanation as to how to get the MEC Single Sidebar to appear in the Widgets page [facepalm]

Hi Jennifer,

It appears the page are now working

http://www.pacificboychoir.org/hear-us-sing/
http://www.pacificboychoir.org/concerts/shakespeare-macbeth-1/?occurrence=2019-03-13

The 404 issue is probably permalink related and not theme related. The theme or any plugin could register its own rewrite or slugs and it’s for their own to use. And the event plugin has its own too, if it fails then it’s solely related to that plugin. Conflict is only possible if the same rewrite are used of the theme or plugin, and I checked and it’s not the case. But glad it’s working now.

As for the sidebar, I had the same issue before and I switch to another theme and still the same. But looks like it works okay on your new URL. So please go to Admin > Appearance > Widgets and add any MEC related widgets to MEC sidebar. I went ahead and added one and it works.

Thanks!

OMG you are AMAZING. thank you SO MUCH for fixing this! I am beyond relieved.

ohhhh man I hate to say this but there is one more issue… none of the buttons on the detail page are working. You can’t add the event to your calendar, or share on social, or see the next event. its like mouse events are disabled. I hate to trouble you more, but do you know why this is?

Hi Jennifer,

There was an issue with Search widget, it seems conflicted with the widgets of single event page.

I’ve removed it and everything is working fine.

Regards!

YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST. Seriously, saved my life here. THANK YOU!!

You’re most welcome!
