Cannot validate product with license key

Hello - Both my Theme X and Cornerstone are outdated and I'm not able to delete modules on my site through Cornerstone (like this: https://theme.co/apex/forums/topic/cant-delete-in-cornerstone/).

I'm trying to update both Theme X and Cornerstone automatically (as suggested here: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-updating-your-themes-and-plugins/62) but when I enter my product license key (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-product-validation/55) I get the following error: "Could not establish connection. For assistance, please start by reviewing our article on troubleshooting connection issues."

I believe I've done everything suggested here: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-validation-connection-issues/201

My host replied:
"The above values are ON. Also mod_security is not showing any block."

Can you please let me know how to proceed? I'm sorry if I've missed another conversation that answers this questions. I'd appreciate your help very much, as I'm not really able to update my website content in its current state!

May I know what version of the theme do you have?

You might need to update using FTP as the new validation method no longer works for old versions.

That would make sense -- I'm on version 4.1.1 of theme X.

If updating manually, can I jump right to installing 6.0.4, or would it be smarter to upgrade incrementally?

Once X is updated, could I set Cornerstone up for an automatic update?

Hi Maya,

It should not be a problem if you do an incremental update if you have a copy of the previous X version or if you upgrade straight to the latest X version but before doing it, please make sure to keep a backup of your site.

Once you have X updated to the latest version, you should be able to validate without any problem and Cornerstone and other bundled plugins with X will have the option of automatic updates where you can update them in few clicks from your admin dashboard.
