Both ways failed: Upload failed and screen turned white upon entering purchase code

The person who built my website installed X a couple years ago. Yesterday I purchased a more updated version to fix some bugs like the accordions not closing, etc. Upon validating my purchase code, the screen goes white. What’s more, automatic updates are not available for this theme, I suspect since my former website developer owned the license.

I also attempted to upload it and it was rejected. . . .

Hello Marie,

Thank you for understanding. I have checked your APEX account looking for the site assigned in your license code. You haven’t assigned one. This means that you won’t be able to validate Pro or X theme where you have installed it. To validate X/Pro properly, please do the following:
1] Please login to your APEX account and assign the license (https://theme.co/apex/licenses). You need to assign the license to your site using this url: https://www.example.com/. You have to make sure that url you just assign is the same as the one you have in your settings, Settings > General > Site Address
2] Go back to X/Pro > Validate, and insert the license Code.

And please review the changes that we made on how you are going to validated your X theme because we made a big change in the process. Please check it out here: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-product-validation/55

If you are still seeing a blank screen, I would love to investigate your site. I would suggest that you provide your site access instead so that we can check your site. You can insert the credentials in a secure note in your next reply. To know how to create a secure note, please check this out: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/how-to-get-support/288

Best Regards.

Okay, thank you.
So, just to clarify:
I only need to install PRO?

And, it is NOT going to wipe out all of my customizations since it is simply “updating.”

Also, sorry but I can’t find “settings.” I only see “Account” with the following options: Dashboard, licenses, orders, support, profile. No settings.

Also, when putting my license into the registration it tells me it is not a valid code. The screen turns red. I tried to take a screen shot but the red disappears too fast.

I copied it: Code 27b57ee2-6f6b-xxxxxxx3 is not a valid Envato Purchase Code or Themeco License

I used the example to fill in the correct url: https://www.holisticvoicelab.com

And, just in case you’re going to tell me I need the purchase code, I cannot find anything resembling the pictures in this link: https://theme.co/apex/images/find-item-purchase-code.png

I’ve read all through the set up and . . .

I cannot find the “Pro Homepage” as suggested in the Set up instructions. There is no lock, arrows and key graphic to be found. I’ve clicked everything that looks like a link. When I click the blue button “Register License” it gives me a small white screen. I put the number in that I got from my dashboard and that’s when I get the red error message above.

Is this information outdated???

I also just tried to upload both my license keys to my website and the screen still goes blank.

Hi @blackmarel,

With the current state of your site, you can not validate it. That is because, a.) your X theme and Cornerstone is outdated, b) your license is now associated with PRO. So to resolve this you need to switch to PRO theme.

To do this, first, navigate to Apex Dashboard and download the latest PRO (2.5.5).

Before you install the PRO navigate to plugins panel and deactivate the Cornerstone to avoid conflict.

Then install the PRO theme that you just downloaded, yes you need to install that as if it is a separate Theme.

Setup - Theme Installation

After that activate the PRO theme.

Remember to clear all your caching features (plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache) after switching the theme. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

After you successfully switch to PRO and clearing cache, try to validate the site again using your Themeco license.

Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!

Will deactivating Cornerstone delete all my work??

And also, is the fact that Cornerstone still active the reason my screen turned white?

Hi Blackmarel,

No, it should not. But remember to clear all your caching features (plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache) after updating (or switching to PRO), so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

It could be, it could be not. A lot of things can cause a white screen issue.

Focus on switching to PRO first (follow my instruction above), we will deal with the white screen issue if it exists.

Thanks,
