YouTube Video on Revolution Slider Not Working

Hello -

The video on the second slide of my homepage slider will not play properly. It starts to play and then stops and goes to a blank screen. I’ve tried in Chrome and Safari (on Mac). It also doesn’t show the play button in the middle like it used to. But if you click on it it will start to play.

I have all of my theme and plug-in files updated to the latest versions, and haven’t been able to find any solutions that worked in the forums.

Can someone help me sort this out asap?

The site is http://imatteryoumatter.com/

I’ll provide log-in info in a secure note.

Hi @noizepro

Thanks for writing in! Could you please try following slider revolution guidelines here (https://www.themepunch.com/faq/video-audio-changes-safari-chrome/1). Also check the following resource (https://www.themepunch.com/faq/enable-sound-for-the-youtube-hero-template/).

Thanks!

I’ve already checked these out after seeing them on another thread. It doesn’t apply. I’m not trying to autoplay or use a background video.

Hello There,

Please make sure that the time of your slide is the same as the length of the video. And also, do not forget to set the necessary options in playing the video.

Hope this helps.

Still is not working. I get a blank screen and if I click inside it the audio plays, but there is no video, play/pause button, or image.

Hi @noizepro,

Been checking it and I can’t find any video code from slider, just a poster image. Instead of video layer, could you implement it as video background?

And please provide your login URL as I can’t access it. I’d like to test it myself too.

Thanks!

I added the url to the secure note. I can’t implement as a video background because there is no sound if you do that.

Hi Noizepro,

Upon further checking, it seems you glitch the Video layer (I can’t confirm if it is a bug because we can not replicate it).

We keep configuring the video settings, but in fact, the video layer was not really added to the slide in the first place.

I’d created a new slide and I added the video layer, you can tell the difference that my slide added a thumbnail on the preview, but your slide did not.

Now your second slide will autoplay the youtube.

The problem with this now is Google Chrome by default mute an autoplayed video, so you can’t have autoplay with audio on Chrome. (view the test page below on Chrome and Firefox)

Chrome Finally Mutes Autoplay Videos by Default

Hope it helps,
Cheers!

I see now that it does work. Did you just create a new slide or edit a duplicate of the one that was there? I’m just wondering what is different about the settings there so that I know for the future. (I did end up removing the slider from the live site.)

Hi @noizepro,

Probably data issue in existing slide, re-creating it applies new valid data. There should be no difference since they are both implemented the same. When that happens, I recommend re-creating it again, I do that too

Thanks!

Okay, thanks. Good to know in the future.

You’re most welcome!
